This cannot be based on the last 17 years in hurling. If 17 years are considered then it should be
1 Kilkenny
2 Cork
3 Tipp
4 Offaly
5 Clare
6 Waterford
7 Galway
8 Wexford
9 Dublin
10 Antrim
11 Laois
12 Westmeath Carlow

Whilst taking the last 17 years results, more weighting is given towards the last few years. It is all based on the expectation of winning a game and that looks at the trend over a period.

I think the facts speak for themselves. Kildare beat Meath is the last competitive game they met in. Therefore until that changes Kildare are better than Meath. Of course that might change this year but at the moment thats the way it is.

That doesn't really make a lot of sense sedico but okey dokey then.

Louth beat both Kildare and Meath in last years Leinster championship but they then lost to Dublin in the qualifiers.

Are Louth therefore not ahead of both Kildare and Meath on recent form but behind Dublin.

You are only as good as your last game so if there is nothing between Dublin, Kildare and Meath surely Louth have to be in there as well .

My own personal view is Dublin are miles ahead of the other counties in Leinster with Louth NOW heading the chasing pack followed by Kildare.

Leinster current top 3

1.Dublin
2.Louth
3.Kildare

Yep I'd have to go along with that sir, makes sense when you put it that way.

You would want to check your stats again their Balls, you have some inaccuracies that suit your obvious way of thinking. Dublin struggled to beat Wexford last year and got beaten by Meath so once again your logic is as twisted as a curlywurly.

____________

Rich, Kildare hammered Meath by 8 points a county that Louth had beat by 6 points previous. Meath struggled to beat both Offaly and Laois but beat Dublin convincingly on another day. So on recent form Meath are clearly behind Louth but Louth are someway off Dublin. So that would leave Meath behind both Dublin and Louth and they are also behind Kildare.

Opinion disguised as facts I'd say.

If this is based on 17 years worth of results, then how are the likes of Antrim ahead of Offaly in football?
On current form, yes, but over 17 years, no way. That cant be right

We beat Offaly by 10 points, we beat Laois by 10 points after a replay and as you say yourself beat Dublin well also, I never blow us up to be beyond what we are but neither will I have us put down needlessly.

Do these rankings only go on head-to-head meetings then?

I'd say Mick McCarthy will be relieved to know Wolves are better than Chelsea. And since the last time they played them they loast Cork will be disappointed to know they aren't better than Kerry despite winning the All-Ireland but will get some consolation in being the best team at hurling since they beat Tipperary.

This is a rediculous thread. The rankings are interesting in their own right as they measure consistency over all competitions and fixtures but leave it there lads will ye before ye get too dizzy talking around in circles...

I sort of hope your right Lohansredhelmet because we need the likes of Clare, Wexford, Limerick, Cork etc back to breathe life into the hurling championsip, but dont just assume winning an underage All-Ireland means you will automatically win senior ones in the years ahead.
Limerick made that mistake and look where they are now.

one good run in leinster in donkeys yrs doesnt make louth the 2nd best team in leinster
dublin meath and kildare are the top 3 in leinster and louth are some way off

if louth can continue the form from last yr for the next few yrs then they could be called a top team in leinster

oh and im not even going to coment on the we beat kildare and meath comment thats just childish

This thread is a waste of time because it should only reflect the championship. Teams only use league and other mickey mouse tournaments to try out new players and all counties are only at full steam for the championship !!

Won't improve my own county though !!
Just another statistics thread anyway !!

First off, I'd have to agree with that, Wexford stormed to the Leinster final in 2008 taking your scalp along the way, it didn't make them one of the top teams in Leinster and we've come nowhere near that since

As for Louth continuing the form and becoming one of the top teams, that remains to be seen but the matches in the O Byrne cup so far would certainly suggest they are here to stay, let's hope so anyway, the more teams competing for the title, the better off the game will be

If Louth players dont stop moaning and complaining they wont win a jot. Ever. Seems like if you want someone to complain about something these days, ask a Louth footballer.

To be fair, their players seem to have moved on from this and are doing their talking on the pitch

It's a select bunch of moronic fans that are doing all the whining, who cannot accept that Life isn't always fair and think this should revolutionise how the Sport is run for everybody - which cannot and will not happen
