I would think Roscommon are a better team than Cavan, Tipperary, Laois, Sligo, Wexford and Louth! Division4 doesnt suit us though so thats probably why! Kildare are better than Meath, Armagh and maybe Mayo too. Sad to see Roscommon, Cavan and Offaly with such great histories so low! hopefully we'll climb the ranks in the next few seasons.

a would ye go away, mayo supporters seem to forget that mayo are in a transitional stage after a forgettable year. sligos team are in their prime, mayo are in turmoil with quite a considerable amount of work 2do. im humble enough to say that galway and possibly roscommon are ahead of us, but definitely not mayo. most gaa supporters around the country will probably agree with this, it will take a special efort for mayo 2do something this year, im just saying that mayo are not 6th in ireland at the moment and that sligo should be around the 12 or 13 mark, we were in the last 12 after all unlike the likes of mayo and donegal, whatever about the hammering against down

Mayo are a strong footballing county and I predict them to bounce back this year.. and if Sligo are in their prime as you say, what have they to show for it..?

Why are these rankings based on the last 17 years ?.

Why not 20, 15, 10, 5 or 3 years ?.

I'll be pretty dissapointed if we don't beat Kildare in June..there is very little between Meath and Kildare even though we got spanked last time out..Infact there is very little between Meath Dublin and Kildare with any of them being able to beat any one else

I think the facts speak for themselves. Kildare beat Meath is the last competitive game they met in. Therefore until that changes Kildare are better than Meath. Of course that might change this year but at the moment thats the way it is.

ON what basis do they put Clare ahead of Wexford? Considering we beat them last year in Division 2.

Sorry I forgot they are from Munster....in spite of only 3 of them being in Division 1 of the league, that is all that matters.

Why is it based on 17 years?

Teams of 17 years ago have no bearing on teams of today and therefore have no input on where they rank. Therefore this ranking system cannot be accurate and is leading to the mostly daft arguments going on here

Would it not be smarter to have rankings based on say 3 years? current players/managers/boards etc?

Not only are we light years behind Sligo, but Roscommon and Galway are better then Sligo. Are we the worst team in Connacht? or those Leitrim pip us for that title?

We might have lost to ye in the league final last year but how many times have we beaten ye recently? That was Wexfords first win against Clare in a long time. in fact over the past 10 years we have destroyed ye on more than one occasion. Also, Wexford are going no where in a hurry while Clare are on the way back big time!!!
