Tragedy in Tyrone - Michaela Harte

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'm sure I speak for all Wicklow Gaels. An absolute horrific event. My thoughts are with the Harte and McAreavey families. Justice seems like it will be done swiftly enough, which is little consolation I know. Rest In Peace Michaela. A dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam fíor dhílis.

Hard to add to whats already being said here, except that I share the sorrow of other users. Desperately sad news, and RIP Michaela.

I can't find words to express how terrible I feel having heard the news and how much harder must it be for those close to Michaela. I'm afraid I can't add anything that hasn't already been said but hopefully with God's help and time the Harte family and her husband might be able to put some meaning to the tragedy.
May she rest in peace.

just saw Mickey Harte on the news speaking so proudly of his late daughter. Whilst the man and his family are clearly experiencing unbelieveable grief and horror he still managed to pay a glowing tribute to the child he has just lost in the worst circumstances imaginable. Every parents worst nightmare is experience the death of a child and my thoughts and prayers are with the Harte family at this awful time. Not forgetting the McAreavey family who have lost a daughter / sister-in-law and lastly John who has lost his beautiful young wife so horribley. RIP Michaela

Heard Mickey harte being interviewed about this tragedy on the R.T.E. 1 Radio news at 6 o'clock. The poor man and his family are in bits as are the McAreavey family. They should be given space and time to grieve and the media should now lay off and allow them breathe !!

RIP to a beautiful girl. Every person respected her. Every father wanted a daughter like her, every man wanted a woman like her, every girl wanted to look as gorgeous as she did. What a lovely person both inside and out. There is no words to comfort anyone in a time like this. To both families I cannot stop thinking about them. May they realise the rest of the country is in mourning alongside them. It is a sorrowful place to be in and may justice be served to those involved.
Tonight the rest of us might have tucked our children in that bit tighter tonight, and kiss the ones we love with a bit more love, and pray that her two families realise in the night sky that a million prayers are being sent to heaven for them. Rest in peace Michaela.x

I have to say I really cannot get my head around this. It makes no sense at all. I only read recently where Micky Harte said something like, "In Tyrone we don't train to get fit, we get fit to train". This man and his family are an inspiration to Ireland and its just not fair what has happened. My thoughts are with them.

The interview with Mickey and his sons was heartbreaking, just awful to witness, I am a big fella of 6ft but there were tears in my eyes watching it. May the Harte family find the strength to get through this, I don't think I could.

Do the Tyrone county board plan on opening a book of condolences on their website?
I thought at the time of the death of Philip McGuinness that it must have been some small comfort to his loved ones to know that so many people all over the country were thinking of him.

a terrible terrible tragedy. even though i never met the girl, she seemed a real genuine lovely girl who will be dearly missed by her family, in-laws, friends and the wider GAA circle. a horrific end to a beautiful and lovely girl. lets hope the justice authorities out there make these s**m pay for robbing the Harte family of their beautiful daughter. RIP Michaela

I must confess I'd never seen the girl before in my life, but the pain of her family was pretty evident after yesterday's press conference with Mickey Harte & his two sons. Mickey was very brave to speak to the cameras yesterday & just show his human side. He is obviously a very strong character & I hope him & his family/friends can get through this.

My sympathies are for the girl herself for her life to end in such awful circumstances, but my thoughts are with her Husband & family and friends who like most of us have probably experienced, now have a big gap in their lives after this loss.

RIP.
