What is with Limerick people's love in with kilkenny, not just in mikeynora's case but other's too. It is a bit odd considering they gave ye a good beating in 2007 and in many recent clashes, even before the final last year i remember a limerick person praying that shefflin would be ok for the final. Stupid.

I'm from Limerick & I like Kilkenny's hurling team. No love in, but genuine admiration & I think we aspire to the standard they play at.

Well it was a 7 point defeat in 2007 and they beat ye by 5 points in 2009 so I guess both were good beatings. But thing thing about Limerick people liking Kilkenny being 'odd' - why do you think that? We have probably won about 20% of all the games we've played them down through the years. We always get respect from them and they treat us like opponents they respect. I cannot recall anyone like Eddie Keher saying derogatory things about Limerick, yet someone like Babs has never been slow to put the boot into us. The fact that his Da was a Limerick legend must eat away at him :-)

Are you serious? We're talking about possibly the greatest hurler ever to pull on a jersey here & you think it's stupid for Limerick fans to want to see him play? Why? I was hoping both sides would be at full strength to get the classic we sought and got.
Now I don't agree with Mikeynora as I do not hate Tipp. But I did have split thoughts going into that final. Had Kilkenny won the 5 in a row their place as the best team of all time in GAA would have been secure, without dispute. But it might not have been good for the game. In the end when Tipp pulled away I was happy. The final had hardly hada dirty stroke, two teams gave it everything and the best team won. Bad teams don't beat Kilkenny and Tipp's play took the game up another little notch from the standard Kilkenny had set.
In short, I really admire Tipp for what they did in 2010. But Kilkenny are still the greatest hurling county of all time in my opinion.

what standard? is it the 2010 final yer talking about I think Tipp were at a way higher standard that day I think thats the standard ye need to aspire to as Kilkenny were hammered by 8 points. Standard isnt great there Id say!!

Always considered a handy All Ireland in Tipp we are the home of hurling of course so in my opinion Tipp would be the greatest hurling county of all time Kilkenny are a close second outside of Cork of course which I would put ahead of Kilkenny as well. 15 all Irelands played between Tipp and Kilkenny 10 to Tipp 5 to Kilkenny. So much for your greatest hurling county of all time mate. That means Kilkenny beat Tipp in 1 out of 3 All Irelands we should meet them more often. As I said, always considered a handy All Ireland up around Hayes Hotel!! And always by a comfortable margin except for 1991 twas only 4 points for Tipp that day surprisingly. And no slagging about Dublin cos they wont be seen come September!!

They could have had Henry and Kehir and the Hendersons and the result would have been the same! Shure Henry didnt get a puck in the 2009 final either only for the dodgy penalty he hit. Now Jimmy Doyle and John Doyle? Well now thats a different kind of class.!

I phrased the bit about shefflin wrong, i apologise if i caused offence and it was not meant like that. I guess what i meant was that there was an almost exaggeration in the media about it. Not changing the rest of it though.

I wonder will Tipp beat Limerick by 24 points again like we did in 09? did Kilkenny ever do that to ye? Now yhats the standard ye need to aspire to and only for us taking off Noel Mcgrath and Kelly it would have been 40 points now thats what I call class do you agree??

Wev enough leagues for the moment way more of them won than any other county we just need to get back on topp of All Ireland roll of honour where we were before so the management team are right to focus on peaking for September again this year!

You cannot accuse this particular tipp team of arrogance anyway. People say they lost to cork because they were that way but i think it was the hangover from the previous september. About the 2009 final, i know there was all this talk about the penalty, blah blah but not one tipp player complained about it, they just got back down to work, they are a credit to tipp. I know a few of them they are just sound lads.
