Why do people dislike Tipperary?

Now I see just how the word "great" is abused. the current Tipp team have won one all Ireland, via the back door and just as narrowly as their predecessors in 2001.

And we know what happened to them in the next two years.

Tipp 1964/65, 1995-1900, and 1949-51 may have claims to greatness. But the current team?

Give them a chance before we put too much of a burden on them.

dont forget Patrique Tipp won in 61 /62 also thats 4 out of 5 thats why they were the greatest. Beat Kilkenny by 14 points in the final in 64 and we nearly beat them as much in 2010 only the ref blew it up as we were running riot!!

Slayer, with that type of attitude, no wonder hurling is at a low ebb. I have no problem giving credit to a great team, but i hate it when people respect them too much. As for this tipp arrogance question, i grew up on the limerick/clare border so the rivalry is intense. When tipp got to the all ireland most people in clare wished tipp well, even if they felt dirty all over. But in Limerick, most people were hoping we'd get hammered, that sort of attitude doesn't bode well for the standard of hurling over recent years. I acknowledge this kilkenny team as a great side, but i hate the way teams are overawed by them and thus end up getting destroyed.

I had the opposite expireance I live on the limerick/Tipp border but on the most part the limerick crew wanted Tipp to win even though they found it hard to admit.... not the same from clare I have relations in clare and they love to see tipp loose.... actually the only time I hear from them is when they do.

Also I agree with Slayer in regards Kilkenny they are the greatest team I've seen playing and have taken the game to the next level it was up to the others to catch up with them which tipp did last year and hopefully over the next few years they can have a hop off trying to surpass their achievements, the potential is there to do it.... Hopefully they can live up to the potential.

I see Kilkenny slapped down the imposters again yesterday, away from home, with a skeleton side.

And some of these people are arrogant???????

You should leave the hurling to the counties that know what they're doing and talking about.

I wouldn't walk in to a clubhouse in Cushedall, Loughiel etc. and say that if I were you SuperCat!

Patrique... You must shocked at a Tipp poster coming to the defence of your beloved Antrim. I'm being genuine and all.

No surprise. For all Tipp's faults Antrim have NEVER beaten Tipp in the all Ireland semi final.

Kilkenny on the other hand have NEVER forgiven us for humbling them in the semi.

Of course that humbling is the reason they are not arrogant.

Of course supoer Cats seems to be blissfully unaware that Antrim did indeed beat Kilkenny in the all Ireland semi final, football and hurling, and Antrim are the ONLY team to have beaten Kilkenny in the minor championship at Nowlan Park.

So he will try cheap shots for a kind of revenge, but we in Antrim know the truth.

PS: Kilkenny never actually recovered from Antrim beating them in that Football semi.........

Antrim hammered us in the 1943 semi-final 3-3 to 1-6. And nearly repeated the feat in 1991 losing by 2 points.

Kilkenny has always had a lot of time for Antrim hurlers, and hurling clubs.

As a kid under-age, every year we would go up to Antrim to play and we would have a different club down each year also to play in a tournament. Brian Cody has continued those links with Loughgiel Shamrocks in particular even though I remember mainly St John's as a kid.

And so here is one Kilkenny man who will be quietly shouting for Loughgiel against our city rivals this Sunday.

I remember that 1991 game well. I thought Antrim had the Cats. Then people said 'if they can only beat Antrim by 2 points they must be no good'. The fact Kilkenny lost the final meant the level Antrim were playing at around then was taken for granted. Tipp beat Kilkenny 1-16 to 0-15, who knows what Antrim may have achieved in the final. But it was not to be.

Antrim also has a close encounter with Cork in 1986. Cork 7-11 Antrim 1-24. Antrim's hurlers definitely do not get the credit they deserve for the hurling they did between 86-91.

Rubbish. Istill don't believe it. It's like Antrim propaganda. It never really happened. Some lunatic wrote it in a paper 68 years ago around the time of April 1st and now its gospel. Nah... Not for me.

I love it. But it was August 1st, really.

Cheer up, we beat Galway in the quarter final that year.
