834624 there is no doubt drink cause anti social activities on our streets at nights - however the vast majority of people out drinking on a sat night go home safe and dont cause criminal damage. could the same be said for herion users??? its a no brainer _____________________________________________
Yes it could Yew Tree... it's as simple as that.
And there's a lot more than just anti-social activities that result from Alcohol abuse... murder, rape etc etc
This is my point folks it doesnt matter what form of drugs you are on... For me a drug is a drug... I dont care which one the goverments of the world tax, it's the abuse of that drug that causes crime. If you decide to get off your head on coke.. you dont turn into Jack the Ripper! and the same goes for booze... of course you can just go home... but you'll always have abusers.
And the most commonly abused drug in this country is Alcohol.
A Drug is a Drug... it doesnt matter if its legal or not....!! If you abuse Alcohol, you are a drug abuser.

Jeez Jimbo, that's an awful racket!!!
On the subject of crime, every time some of these criminals get shot, the papers report that "xxxx was a well know criminal from the xxxx area ". Why are there so many active, well known criminals, wandering about freely engaging in crime? Why are they not locked up? Sure, some would have a problem giving evidence against them, but if they are active and well known criminals, what are the guards at?

You want rid of the s**mbags selling drugs?
Well unless you know any pharmacists that are s**mbags could I suggest the obvious solution which solves the problem immediately.
Legalise.
Oops, that would hit the major pharmecutical companies who would only be making 90 billion a year.....couldn't have that.
So, keep the s**mbags.
And thanks, the thread reminded me I need to contract my local s**mbag...........

jimbo,
You're missing the point completely. I don't see any difference in being addicted to cocaine and being addicted to alcohol, and I'd say most agree with you in that respect, but that is not what this thread is about.
The point being made is the industry that you are funding when you purchase illegal drugs. That's where the huge difference lies. By giving money to the sc*mbags you're effectively paying for the bullets that'll be used in the next murder. If you go to Dicey's garden and spend the same amount the product you receive may be no less harmful, but I've yet to see the lads from Dicey's performing a drive-by on the Odeon!
Simply put, if drugs were legally obtainable, this wouldn't be a problem, but whilst the drugs trade is controlled by violent criminal gangs then anyone who buys from them is complicit in the murders and other crimes that they commit.

jimbodub - would you like to see alcohol completely banned so and for us to have a sober free society or should we just make all drugs legal and let people make up their own mind if they think its wise to take class A drugs.

An Incredibly simplistic way of looking at it. I have no bearing into another persons free will...
If we were all nice to each other there would also be world peace... but it aint that simple is it.
Suppy and demand... we all know the problem, but Patrique see's why it'll never be solved... big business has chosen which drugs they want to tax.

To legalize all drugs wouldn't be good, but what about legalizing something like weed? Like the tax going into the government would be unreal.. And that fact that it's illegal doesn't actually stop anyone doing it. And really if I was by myself walking home or something I'd prefer to run into someone who'd just had a joint than someone who'd just had a shoulder of vodka.

Royal Girl,
Yes indeed. The annoying thing about it is that anyone being caught with a bit of weed and getting a court conviction will be denied a visa to travel to the U.S.A., Canada, Australia and many more countries !! They cannot work in the Public Sector either i am told as they have to declare their conviction !! Happened to a lad i know and is maybe too severe a punishment but many do not know this !! You could be caught at 18 years of age with a bit of weed and if convicted in court the consequences stay with you for life !!

Once again my post and a fairly innocent one has been denied !! Maybe its because i mentioned the name of a hospital and the head of psychiatry there !!
Patrique,
I did reply to your post and said that things were different down here regarding professional people in the psychiatric profession saying that cannabis was dangerous to a persons mental state. There are plenty of them saying it too. I gave the address and the dept that head of psychiatry works in too in case you wanted to debate with her but it was not put up !! However there are many experts who disagree with your point of view regarding dope !!

Slasher,
Do you remember when every day of the week eminent doctors and scientists told us that smoking was harmless? The tobacco company paid them.
Nowadays the same people who are peddling mind blowing drugs like prozac, tamazzapan, valium and mogadon and such, pay the same doctors to say Cannabis is awful.
capitalism gets everywhere.
After 44 years of the stuff, not a lot wrong with my mind.

Patrique,
Thats just what the medical people are saying Patrique !!
It effects different people in different ways, the same with ecstasy !! Those people explained that if you have a mild mental problem, which you might not even know about, cannabis can be very dangerous !! They said it has caused many suicides !!
Now before anyone says that alcohol can have the same effect, i know that !! The point the experts were putting across is that cannabis is NOT harmless !!
We would probably better off without any drugs legal or illegal !!

I say legalise, tax revenues would be unreal especially when the country is broke. Tourist influx alone after legalisation would generate massive income.
