I would like to live in Dells world, where the sun shines all year round, Fermanagh win Ulster titles, and insurance companies pay out no questions asked. Dell, do you really believe that the club insurance policy is some magic catch-all that will cover every little injury suffered in connection with the club, from player injuries to supporters getting paper cuts on the match programme? Even though this flies in the face of everything we know about insurance companies? You seem to think that because you heard of some player in your club getting medical bills paid, that it is easy to get claims paid. With all due respect, both players in MY club that had to pay for their own operations would suggest differently.
A claim for player medical expenses asks for, among other things, the player name and age, and later on for the details of where the injury occured, the name of the opposition and the grade of tournament.
If the Clonduff lad had gotten injured, the insurance assessor would have looked at the player age, looked at the details of the game played, looked back to the age, back at the grade of game played, and exclaimed in his best Father Ted referees voice, "Wait a second.." Then he would have rejected the claim, thus making his boss happy and maybe getting £3.50 extra on his christmas bonus.
It is naive in the extreme to believe that some magic insurance policy just pays out for every little thing without even basic fact checking. I hope you arent telling the little kids in the pub any of this?

This is all by the by anyway, and an attempt to deflect attention away from the main point of the thread. As stated before, the rules exist for well established reasons. For Clonduff to think they can just ignore rules as and when it suits, that is anthetical to the point of organised sporting competitions, and as such they should be punished.

Dell your problem is that you cant stand it when others don't agree with you or see your way of thinking........You go all defensive when this happens.

No one is calling you a liar, people are entitled to have their say the same as you and if this conflicts and contradicts with your opinion so what except it FFS you don't have to be right all the time you know.

I stand corrected.

In my defense, I have no real interest in the clubs involved as such, and know very little about them. I simply wanted to respond to some of the more vapid pronouncements made earlier in the thread.

In my opinion Corduff would have a bit of a habit of suiting themselves when it comes to the rule book so I'm a little short of sympathy for them but in this case I think Swanlinbar should have let it go.

People here are highlighting about the young player being dragged through the media - I'd wouldn't say he'd be too worried about that but Swanlinbar should have spared a thought for their own player - The one who was supposed to be marking a 16 year old (and I believe he has just turned 16) who came on and scored a goal.

Now he definitely must be very embarrassed by all this !!

Dell, good to hear you will be forwarding a motion to your club next year that will look for this stupid rule to be scrapped. I'm glad you are championing the cause given your remarkable defence of Corduff. The next time my club are up infront of the disciplinary meeting I must get you to come and defend us!

EnolaGay This will be one motion i will be looking to be scrapped and the five year rule is another that clearly is not working .

If the player is underage Corduff would have lost the title with or without an objection from Swad as the Ulster Council were the first ones to become aware of the breach.. The only difference in Swad objecting is that they will be awarded the game if Corduff are stripped of the win.
So if they did indeed remove the objection it was a foolish move as they would have done nothing but rob Ulster of a Semi Final representative.

it doesn't matter if swanlinbar withdraw their objection, Once the objection is put forward the ulster council has to deal with it, so swanlinbar will represent ulster if the player is deemed ineligible

JonSmith Very foolish move indeed objection then removing it but the damage is done they have more and likelly got the winners in trouble ,

But Dell the point I'm making is that this would have happened even if Swad had not lodged the objection. The Ulster Council were the ones who found the breach and informed Swad of it, they would have disciplined Corduff with or without an objection from Swad. The outcome for Corduff was always going to be forfeiting the game whether or not Swad took the opportunity to object.

So CORDUFF did the damage to themselves, not Swad. If Swad had not objected Corduff would still be stripped of the title.
