830209 ill tell you why farmer cause if there is rugby on tv - more people watch it than gaa- all the ratings prove this- this weekend the HC munster game will attract more viewers than all the provincial finals combined- rating dont lie, and i love the way you all gladly gloss over them cause you know its right. the other only logical way of looking at it would be to find out the advertising cost for a 30 second slot at half time in the all ireland final or at a 6n game- you would be surprised and again why is this because more peopel watch rugby than gaa. RATINGS DONT LIE - alas people have a problem with this because it tell the real picture and the gaa gombeens have a problem with the truth- there is no shame in admitting your second best, there is serious shame in denying it though. THIS IS RUGBY COUNTRY! :)

Seamus ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
u think no one in Limerick and Cork likes Rugby its only south dublin ha ha ha ha ha ha
its the majority sport in terms of viewers and participation at all levels in limerick amd cork ya eejit
ha ha hahahahahah

So in a country with only 5 cities (limerick, dublin, cork, waterford, galway) its the majority game in 2 of them and huge in Dublin also!!!

Mikeynora, I'm not trying to be smart but all you need to know to dispel your argument is that liathroidboy is the only one who agrees with you.

Show me the proof (attack a link or something) that rugger is the biggest sport for participation in Cork City. I would be hugely interested in seeing that I must say. And as a student in Limerick, I would also doubt that more kids play rugby than play soccer in the city, then again, I don't really care about Limerick because it is a dump.

provincial fianls in the gaa are on this weekend- will there be more in attendance at the rugby or the gaa? why the inferiority complex lads rugby is massive in this country at the moment- the attendances, viewer numbers etc are soaring but keep living in the dreamland if you wish cause its largely irrelavant - if it wasnt for rugby and u2 corke park would only have being filled on finals day. THIS IS RUGBY COUNTRY and deep down we all know it, its a shame the gaa wouldnt get its act together

I would say GAA is still more popular overall especially in rural areas. However rugby is catching up quickly.

aint much rugby in my part of the world. ALL young lads play GAA, some play a bit of soccer but the gaa and the local club is central to every village in mayo and indeed ireland. its the heartbeat of the community. i dont know what part of mayo liathroidboy is from? - i would love to know

Farmer you havent a clue what your on about
Rugby is far and away the biggest sport in Munster bar a few pockets in south kerry and north Tipp.
And even Tipp and Kerry now are producing huge numbers of players to the Munster Squad
Rugby is without doubt THE sport in Munster.

This is wildly untrue. There is no rugby in Waterford, West and North Clare, Cork county outside of the city aside from small pockets. You say that there is no rugy in North Tipp and that it's the main sport in South Tipp? How? In the North we have an AIL senior team in Nenagh Ormond, the south have decent Junior clubs in Clanwilliam and Clonmel. Let's breakdown Munster by regions and look at the major sports.

Waterford- Hurling, some soccer, pockets of football
Cork County- Hurling, Football in the West, pockets of Rugby
Cork City- Hurling, Gaelic football, Rugby in the private schools, soccer and basketball, must be a strong athletics scene too
Kerry- Football is a religion, strong pockets of Basketball and soccer. Excess Gaelic Footballers exported to Rugby and AFL.
Limerick County- Hurling, Rugby, some Gaelic football
Limerick City- This IS Rugby country, also hurling, football, some basketball, soccer, boxing
Clare- Hurling, football and basketball in the west, Rugby has made big in roads here and many GAA people are worried
Tipp North- Hurling dwarfs everything, football, rugby, soccer all frowned upon, except for the purpose of getting fit for hurling.
Tipp South- Strong pockets of Hurling, mainly Gaelic football in the west and around Clonmel, soccer and rugby strong in Clonmel and Tipp Town

Anyone like to add anything or correct me?

I think the Rugby crowd got a bit of a kick in the arse when their last few matches against international teams were played in a half empty stadium !! There looked to be less than 25 thousand at those games and no atmosphere either !!

There is no way you can compare a HC match to a club final. Provincial Club final generally will have limited appeal unless you are involved or a club from your county is involved, were as the HC is the top competition in Club rugby and. No point in comparing viewer figures between the two but then Id say Ball boy knew that as well.

If you want to compare the two then compare Cork in an All ireland semi to Munster in a Heineken cup semi or a football wc match involving ireland to a Rugby world cup match invoving ireland.

While asked about Paul O'Connell's red card on the John Murray show this morning Rubberbandit's star Blind Boy said:

"I don't know nothing about rugby kid.

"I don't know nothing about sport.

"The one thing that I give out about is the Dublin media. The Dublin media are awful biased against Limerick because thay make the asumption that we know about rugby.

"I don't know nothing about rugby and I'm from Limerick through and through.

"I'd often battle and go which one is rugby; the one with the round ball or the oval ball".

There ya go Mikey boy, chalk it down kid.
