Greengrass: "Clubs must demand the highest of standards and employ only properly qualified and experienced managers if they are employing outside managers. Anything else is a terrible waste of money". ----------------
Tis indeed a good debate! Cant see any common ground been found but debate is what this board is about and I will indeed agree to differ!
I agree with you totally on the above quote, but how many clubs actually check whether or not an outsider is fully (or in any way) qualified? I must admit - I have never asked the question!! But in fairness I am fairly sure all underage coaches in the club have the proper courses done. All we hear from anybody about an outsider is "he was great for this club" or "he was a great man to read a game back when he was playing". Most often the only question which is asked is how good will he be, never about his qualifications. If people within a club get properly qualified, and are willing to do the job, there is no need to go spending €100 a night and breaking a club for a messiah which more often than not turns out to be a false dawn.
Pinkie we have found common ground. I agree with you on the points you have made. Coach education is vital and it is equally vital that clubs drive their own coach education. They it to all of the players in their care from the youngest to the oldest.
