Paying Managers

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Anyone willing to say how much their club is likely to pay to their manager(s) for the coming year or how much they were paid for 2010? Our club is paying 65 euro a night for 2011 and were paying 50 euro a night for 2010.

Our club paid a man 5k for a 10 month season this year. He was worth every single cent, good guy.

Dont now how a team can pay 20K unless they are a massive club with All Ireland ambitions and lots of cash.

That cash is fairly scarce nowadays.

That was a few years ago to be fair but still alot of money. I wont name the club but they would have been quite off the pace in terms of even county championship let alone all ireland

my club paid (intermediate) €150 a night last year for an ex-limerick county hurler, came in march, 2 nights a week training ended losing the first 2 championship games, didnt come back after the second game (mid july), received between 5-6k, we ended up getting relegated, so much for reputations!!

Yet another Celtic Tiger waste which every club went through. Time to go back to the manager of the club coming from within it, rather than clubs throwing good money after bad paying some fellah to come in and do what some lad within the club could do anyway. There is no point in club members out forcing lotto draw tickets down peoples necks (especially when money is tight) only for the club to squander it like that.

Well said pinkie,I dont mind managers getting there costs like in moblie fone bill because there has to be alot of txts and phone calls sent out to boys and also fuel money, but dont see any need for extra money to be handed out,I know it takes alot of time prparing training,i train teams and mite spend up to 2 hours gettn a session ready in my head, get there a half hour before training starts and have all set up,is time consuming but that should come with the love of the game

well said it is very easy for a manager to just give instructions but it is the players who put in far more effort into being successful. I don't agree with any players or managers getting paid and the sooner the better it is stopped

I think it is a shame that people are not willing to manage teams without getting paid, it goes against every principle of the gaa
