Is there not a specific Irish Day of Remembrance for all Irish soldiers killed in battle???? Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12452 - 08/11/2010 17:43:34 812203 Link 0 |
This debate rears it's head every year, some people wish to pay their respects to those brave men, others don't. I don't agree you should be forced to wear a poppy but at the same time I don't see why people should feel offended by that. However there are those on here who go out of their way to be offended so leave them to it pplocal (Tyrone) - Posts: 5878 - 08/11/2010 17:52:35 812212 Link 0 |

Now it do-sent matter a hoot if you want to wear a poppy or a lily the Great War and the Second World War was a shared sacrifice men from the Ulster Volunteers and the Irish Volunteers marched side by side to defeat Evil unlike the tripe that's put out today to justifier invading country's that have been bomb time and time again back to the dark ages, One good story to come out of the Island of Ireland was a joint cross community project head by two former foes Patrick (Paddy) Doherty vice-chairman of the Derry Citizens Defence Association and Glen Barr leader of Loyalist Association of Workers in the early 1970s both men came together to build the Thiepval tower to commemorate the Irish Dead of the Great War (84) A shared sacrifice f#6AEDD fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 08/11/2010 18:37:45 812271 Link 0 |

I wonder will some of 'poster's be on HS this Sunday or will they be marching with their regiments. Some of these people have no connection with the GAA whatsoever and most likely will be with their colleagues at the weekend. Smiley's people are everywhere. I really didn't realise so many people has this inferiority complex. People from the North like Ulsterman I can understand in a way but the lads down South genuinely surprise me. Independence for nearly a 100 years and yet they still have to prove they're in no way British. Get over it, it's embarrassing pplocal (Tyrone) - Posts: 5878 - 09/11/2010 13:41:41 812762 Link 0 |
