Myers: look up his articles on africa. enough said. independent is only good for dog litter.

Harris: bertie made him a senator after the 07 election. In a totally unconnected bit of journalism he spent a late late show singing the praises of bertie just before the election. I wonder why he isn't so loud in his praise for him now?

Two of the worst unionist, partitionist, revisionist, rascist, bigotted men on the island.

Now if we are seriously taking about ethnic cleansing and massacres let's start with the anti Catholic ones at Drogheda, Wexford, Clonmel, the Plantation of Ulster and more recently East & North Antrim.

Ulsterman I am a bit surprised at you. These examples are nearly all examples of famous alleged massacres of PROTESTANTS.

You see according to some Catholics were living like slaves and didn't own or possess anything. So when they heard that Oliver Cromwell was approaching Drogheda what earthly reason would they have for staying? Quite a few of protestant business and land owners stayed and were "put to the sword" by Cromwell's troops.

Wexford? The only massacres I know about there were in the 1798 rebellion when allegedly large numbers of protestants were crowded into barns which were then set alight to "massacre" them. This was one of the more unsavoury elements of that rebellion, especially so as the "real" rebels were mostly in Counties Antrim and Down, and were nearly all Presbyterian to a man.

Clonmel I have never heard of I freely admit. As for the Plantation of Ulster began "privately" in 1606 and officially in 1609 there are no recorded deaths and certainly no massacres.

However in the rebellion against this in 1641 we have the "famous" alleged massacre of protestant settlers, the one that appears to be ethched on the mind of every staunch loyalist in the north of Ireland.

Finally I did not hear about the "recent" massacres in east and North Antrim. Suffice to say I did not think there would be enough Catholics in east Antrim to "massacre".

Perhaps you were being satirical and I missed it?

were do i say killing innocent people is right dear boy , especially on a religion i was defending my people who were wrongly turfed off their lands and homes and left along the side the road to die , while their illegal occupiers drank wine and talked about how they will the natives of my country down with devastating effects and tactics , now when eventually when karma comes around and these dictators are ousted and tried for their crimes of letting the rightful owners of these lands and homes die along with their children , you want me to feel sorry for them or their tory ways .

You couldn't make this nonsense up, but someone did.

Where do you get it from? "Drinking wine while people died at the roadside" or whatever, even the Wolfe Tones wouldn't write drivel like that.

however, I feel it is sad that you appear to believe this AND want to inflict such alleged suffering onto a group of Irish people who obtained land wrongly some 400 years ago.

By the way, who is this person Badhun you refer to or is that just a nakedly sectarian term?

I am surprised at you Ta32, outright bigotry does not sit well with you.

Again the points being debated here are simple. Loyalist paramilitaries DID target innocent Catholics as their main terrorist method. However there are enough examples of republicans doing the same thing, not to the same extent because one Gerard Adams stopped them doing such things on his release from the Kesh in the 1970s. However he could not control all republican groups.

Could I also say that the American propaganda during the first Gulf War or Turkey Shoot when they told us about bombs dropped from planes that went about the city to find legitimate non civilian targets before actually exploding was just that, propaganda.

So if republicans planted bombs in public houses or restaurants there was every likelihood that they would kill innocent civilians. Bombs are designed for that purpose, to kill.

Nothing wrong with English people by the way. The Keanes from Manchester, McCarthy's, Houghton's, and indeed my own two offspring are not the worst in the world.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first sentence.Let me just add though, since it seems we are just saying things for the hell of it,that I would very much like to see the Grand Canyon some day.

As for the second sentence,Keanes Manchester etc etc,am I supposed to know who these people are? Offspring OFFSPRING! Who refers to their children in this way man?

This entire thread would be enough to turn people off the GAA

Hate to see content like this on what's meant to be a GAA sport website

At some stage in life you have to let the past stay in the past..Young people are joining the british army because recruiting officers in the south are telling them no places in the south because of cutbacks..If you wan't to join an army ,go across the border and join the best army in the world..

Your address would make you well qualified to think so as it is possible that the North Cork Militia, who suppressed the rebellion in Wexford, had a few reprisals.

But Cork people appear to feature on a regular basis in the "ethnic cleansing" allegations.

Tomaoo7, young Irish people joining the BA and getting killed in a war that they probably know nothing about is like soooo retro. It's not me living in the past. No disrespect to the chap but I'm afraid I wouldn't regard him as a hero in any way.

no you are right patrique , sectarian bigotry does not sit well with me honestly , thats why i will not tolerate badmonkey as you would call him , and as for listening to the wolfe tones , i do not like them , they just cannot sing end of , and by the way patrique i wishnot to inflict pain on any innocent person , but you know as well as i do people were turfed off their land illegaly and left along the side of the road to die , that seems a fair assement of how were in ireland years ago , i did not find that in a wolfe tone song , i actually read , now when time does go on and you have rebellions the people that had controlled these lands illegally and homes of which they had stolen all of a sudden they are turfed out , then i am not going to feel sorry for them , good honest protestant people have being part of this country and always will , they were part of our sports , politics and formation of many other things in this country , but if youcannot see bigots come on here with other agendas then do not insult me for lashing out at their loyalist ancient views . simple really .
