'You have strong opinions on a time you never experienced pomeroy, you turn to an internet forum to vent your anger but you are unwilling to go to the agm of pomeroy plunketts and suggest a name change to something less republican. I wonder why???? Money, where and mouth are words that spring to mind. ' pplocal (Tyrone) - Posts: 5878 - 12/11/2010 20:44:21 815482 Link 0 |

In 1491 Cork played a part in the English Wars of the Roses when Perkin Warbeck, a pretender to the English throne, landed in the city and tried to recruit support for a plot to overthrow Henry VII of England. The mayor of Cork and several important citizens went with Warbeck to England but when the rebellion collapsed they were all captured and executed. Cork's nickname of the 'rebel city' originates in these events. The nickname was later applied to the whole county. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 14/11/2010 15:44:58 816210 Link 0 |
So you support ethnic cleansing...wow...and you have the audacity to criticise others. The mentality of nationalists on here is not the best. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4655 - 14/11/2010 15:48:50 816215 Link 0 |
There was never any ethnic cleansing of protestants in west cork. West cork still has plenty of protestants and they're fine irish men as you would expect. hurlinspuds (Cork) - Posts: 1494 - 14/11/2010 15:56:44 816220 Link 0 |
The problem with the poppy for me is that no longer commemorates the fallen in The Great war (inc Irishmen) or indeed WW2. It now commemorates Meath_bhoy (Meath) - Posts: 590 - 14/11/2010 16:12:00 816233 Link 0 |
