GPA Football Team of the Year...

Dell

Very over the top comments made by you there... I'm disappointed in you to be honest.

You weren't complaining when the GPA team was dominated by Tyrone players and Sean Cavanagh was nominated for the GPA player of the year.

Strange that... again very over the top remarks made from a guy with such an unsettling resentment for the GPA... somehow I think your opinions may be a little clouded.

As I said… you weren't complaining when Tyrone were justly awarded by the GPA for their efforts…

I'll leave it at that… you seem to be in a rather bad mood, look after yourself...

Dell, I think the GPA team of the year is a better reflection of the best 15 hurlers and footballers in 2010 irrespective of the fact of whether they are GPA members O'r not.

BallsMcQ USA - Yes I have seen Keenan play, in fact I have played against him and I suspect I may be better placed to judge him than you. I've nothing against him, just don't think he deserved all-star on games I seen this year.

PK57 Louth - He def was not man of match in two of three games I seen him in this year.

The commentators played a big part in his all-star selection, all we kept hearing was 'Louth had best midfield pairing in the country' all year yet Dublin completely dismantled them in this area to such a degree that the game was all but over at half time. Argument over.

Good lord, you'd swear Dessie Farrell picked the winners himself the way ye're going on. All players get to vote and you'd have to respect their integrity in terms of recognising who was the best of their opponents. Maybe I'm naive but I really can't imagine players taking GPA membership into account when individually casting their votes.

StJude what you think is irrelevant really. The lad made the no.8 position on the Sunday Game team of the year, the GPA team of the year and the All-Star team so with respect to you your judgement of players isn't up to much really.
You really are a lost cause.
ps. I have seen Keenan play, in fact I have played against him ............ dream on StJude dream on.

he has more respect on here then you. and he's not the only one who thinks that as ive seen a few posters with posts along the same lines. answer this balls; if you swapped paddy's jersey to a meath jersey this year do you think he would have got the all-star? i don't, i'd say it would have been galvin, walsh or dara instead. and how do you know he hasn't played against him? could have been a college game.... im not great footballer but ive played with and against a few county stars. the only one dreaming is you my friend :)

Pity it takes the GPA awards to select the right team and the journalists can't see whats blatantly obvious. Examples include the selction of Mckernan of Down and Galvin of Limerick. All- Ireland is what really matters but nice to see best players get recognition aswel even though they may not all hail from the traditional powerhouses of recent times e.g Tyrone , Kerry, Cork. The full forward line is about right also with goulding, doyle and brogan. Maybe Jordan could have got in ahead of Bolton but not much worng overall.

BallsmcQ you need to relax man and take a few chill pills or something. The facts are that Paddy Keenan did make all 3 teams of the year and yes he is a fine footballer and comes across as a very modest fella, all I'm saying is that I just don't think he deserved selection ahead of John Galvin and MD McAuley this year. That's just my opinion.

Comments appreciated BettystownRoyal.

dearest petty if you swapped any or all of the 15 players jersey's who won All-Stars for a Meath jersey do you think that they would have got there All-Star award ?.

think carefully before you answer because your answer will determine you are either completely paranoid and or just bitter towards Louth and Paddy Keenan in particular.

ps any failure by you to answer the question will of course confirm that you are indeed both of the above.

How did Graham Reilly of Meath not get into any of the teams? Top scorer in the champ for a half forward he scored 1-16 from play and was by far Meaths best player this year...

Daniel Goulding not getting in was a huge disgrace, but every year their is serious controversy, about time Johnny Doyle got what he deserved though..

Don't know why Gooch should be on any of this years teams,he has got a few before on reputation, their is no way he deserved one this year..

Why wouldn't Gooch be on the team for 2010, who was better than him in the No 13 shirt this year-look at the games he played and he is still going strong having scored 2-5 yesterday in the club qf in Munster.

Having said that the awards, as we all know, are not really judged on who is the best in that position in the year but more so, the individuals who played well in the final and to a lesser extent the semi final and lesser again the qf. Therefore, I have no objections to the GPA selection, Kerry has done well by this formula for a long time and I would not begrudge Goulding or Kavanagh/Shine (if they got an award) the recognition. Another thing, the recognition of John Galvin as one of the best midfielders in Ireland is long, long overdue. Congrats to all the lads who got awarded!

Very measured message there KerryKerry.

Awards, by their very nature, will be contraversial. The good thing about these awards is the fact that they recognise the players in the position they played and also that the players themselves have the final say.

It really angers me when people give off about the Gpa aards just because they are anti Gpa.

Great to see good contest for positions with 4 All Stars in the running for 2 positions.

Also, John Galvin has been one of the best mid fielders for years and eventually gor his reward.

i only hope that next year if the Gpa/Gaa move to only one team it is vital that the actual players have some input into the selection. It has ben a running joke for years how journalists have the pick and that players who may not be media friendly lose out simply for this reason
