A severe case of the GPA team only being made up of GPA members. 3inarow08 (Kerry) - Posts: 2455 - 04/11/2010 12:29:04 809387 Link 0 |
Glad to see Goulding and Galvin on the team as I thought both deserved an Allstar. But I would not have dropped Cooper from the team and I would have Jordan in the half-back line instead of Bolton paddywack09 (Tyrone) - Posts: 150 - 04/11/2010 12:32:44 809391 Link 0 |

This is a better selection than the political GAA all-stars, just because down got 5 awards doen't mean that they are a better team than cork but just have better key players cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1691 - 04/11/2010 12:42:30 809402 Link 0 |

Hope this will put a stop to a few begrudgers belittling Paddy Keenan's recognition as a 'sympathy vote'. pundit2 (Louth) - Posts: 597 - 04/11/2010 13:39:31 809457 Link 0 |

A fairer selection than the All Stars. Delighted for Phily as well. The Gooch (2010 model) was never a runner.... Maybe when the All Stars and GPA Team are amalgamated more people will be satisfied but somehow I doubt it. Floops (Dublin) - Posts: 1623 - 04/11/2010 14:08:39 809480 Link 0 |
i wouldnt begrudge goulding a place on the team, but i feel that james kavanagh has got no recognition what so-ever for his exploits on the field this year. remember this is the man who scored a wonder goal against meath and kick-started irelands ill-fated attempt to comeback against the aussies last week in croker. he is also one of if not the best box to box operators in the game at the moment john.no1 (Sligo) - Posts: 471 - 04/11/2010 14:28:02 809510 Link 0 |
I don't think the Cork players will be too bothered. I fancy Conor Counihan to make a big deal out of it when it comes to motivating some of his troops as the season starts next year. Nothing like telling a GAA player that he isn't good enough, lucky to win an All-Ireland, haven't proved anything until two or three All-Irelands are won. happytobehere (Cork) - Posts: 360 - 04/11/2010 16:35:38 809627 Link 0 |
Nobody performed as well at left corner back as John O Brien did this year. He is an outstanding player. He held Steohen Bray scoreless in the Leinster Final having been switched on to him after just ten minutes. He held Bernard Brogan to a point from play over the course of the entire qualifier against Dublin. James Kavanagh also found the going very tough against him in Newbridge. Philly Mc Mahon is a very fine young player and had a very good season but I feel John O Brien had the edge on him. I also feel MD Mc Auley was unlucky not to be picked. cant understand people wanting gooch in the team yes dont get me wrong he has been the best forward in the country over the last number of years and i would have him in my team anyday but team not on an all star selection for this season over the course of this year he wasnt the best performer in his position,i think donie shine would have been ahead of him to get in the full forward line.john o brien was good but phily came forward took some lovely points aswell as starring for ucd in the sigerson cup earlier in the year this for a guy who wasnt deemed good enough to make the panel last year a good achievement for him i think. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 04/11/2010 17:48:25 809719 Link 0 |
Philly mc mahon should never have got one terrible decision on that one jhonny doyle should get player of the year also. Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 04/11/2010 17:54:02 809726 Link 0 |
typical dellboy anti dub.do you not get tired of it i dont think anybody in the country begrudged bernard of player of the year regardless of his county and i think phily was the top scoring defender maybe cluxton beat him{oh hes a dub too}guess you dont like him either.suppose u want jordan,or mcmahon maybe both and cavanagh in the team why not throw pascal mcconnell in goal aswell hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 04/11/2010 18:00:46 809734 Link 0 |
good knowledgeable people on the GPA selection panel a better team than the all stars team b.mullins (Dublin) - Posts: 1413 - 04/11/2010 18:12:17 809743 Link 0 |
hill16no1man not anti dublin at all and philly mc mahon did not deserve this but thank god it was from the G.P.A not the real awards would have made a mockery of it completely , on the subject justin mc mahon deserved a all star over any of the defenders evern over jordan , and jhonny doyle should have got player of the year been top scorer . dell why didnt phily desreve it what did charlie harrison do that he deseved it more then phily? and jonny doyle was top scorer yes he got an award top scorer haha how does that mean he has to get player of the year he finished a point ahead of bernard and bernard was top scorer in the league doesnt mean he should get the award coz of scoring that means a defender would never win it? bizzare comment. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 04/11/2010 18:36:45 809768 Link 0 |
