Derryman there were war crimes carried out by the Allies during WW2. Of course I condemn these. However I don't feel you can compare WW2 to the Troubles if that's what you're trying to do. We can only imagine what these people were going through, this was a conflict on an unprecedented scale. You can't compare this to some people leaving car bombs in busy areas and then driving away. To take your point further are you saying then that Loyalists killing random Catholics goes hand in hand with the conflict as well?

God help me Pomeroy. If you can not see that to drop bombs from agreat height on civilian populations is not similar to a car bomb in a civilian area then you are simply being obtuse. There are no Just wars. There is no moral high ground to be claimed when comparing one war with an other. Either both acts are wrong or neither is. There is no difference between a suicide bomber walking through a crowd and killing people and some commander on a ship giving the order to fire a missile into Iraq which we all know kills civilians indiscriminately. I can not nor do i wish to defend the acts of the IRA. What I do condemn is the policies of the British government over succesive generations that perpetuate the violence in my country. I take exception to people like yourself who can not move on from the past and condemn anyone who votes for Sinn Fein. The war is over if I must consider the policies of Sinn Fein of yesteryear and decide not to vote for them because They once advocated an armed struggle then Fianna Fail Fine Gael Conservatives and Labour or any Unionist party cannot be voted for on the same criteria.

You didn't answer my question, do you view Loyalist killings as going hand in hand with the conflict as well? Do you try to justify them in the way you try to justify Republican murder?

Why would I wish to justify the murder of anyone. I have never attempted to justify any act of violence. I attempt to understand why we are in the mess we are in. It is the successive failure of Governments world wide to understand what is happening that condemns us to ever repeat them. This is what you fail to understand Pomeroy THERE IS NO MONOPOLY ON GOOD THERE ARE NO GOOD WARS

Pearse is 2/5 favourite to take the seat with both the FG and FF candidates at 4/1

Pearse deserves the seat because he was the only one with his party to go out and stand up and fight for this.

O Cuiv and GAA

I see that FF's Director of Elections in Donegal Eamon O Cuiv is claiming that FF's enemies are also the enemies of the GAA! So if you are against the party of the bankers and speculators you are also persumably a sworn enemy of Brian McEniff and Mairtín Beág and the Donegal team of 1992!
I trust that the people of DSW will give him his answer.
