You did not watch it correct then because he turned over page while he was writing name and it is the new refs books if you do not want to lift out cards as some refs just fold over book and show them , now please he showed no cards at end of game only took names .

tomaoo7 He is wrong and so are a ref would never show a yellow after a game in anything it would be a red , he folded over book , like banging my head of a brick wall trying to explain. he is writing while the yellow bit shows on the book.

just after the young lad is having a go . the first time ] he reaches for a yellow card , then another player protests as he is walking along side him . the player proceeds to walk away , sludden turns around and shows another yellow .

This thread is going around in circles.
What more can be said about what happened at this stage?

808501 louth can whinge about what happened and we were robbed syndrome. the biggest injustice in all of this was how that referee was treated after the game. right/wrong he deservesw respect and that was no way to treat another human being. the other wrong in all this is the failure of the Louth co board to name the individual that attacked mark ward an unused sub on the meath team who was attacked by a louth "Fan". also the abuse and animocity in the stands that day was awful by so called louth supporters. time to get your own house in order first before you start going on about sludden back refereeing being a disgrace. ye were the disgrace here in all this.

Easy does it there db9, there was 25,000 Louth fans at that game but only what, a dozen or so of these thugs went after the ref? Don't be narrow-minded enough to tar all Louth fans with the same brush. And as for 'abuse and animosity', undesireable as that is, you will always get some portion of fans like that in all matches and your own county is not innocent of it either, when we played you in Carlow in 2008, the abuse & the language from some of your own fans, particularly in front of small kids was an absolute disgrace - but I'm not naive enough to think that all Meath fans are like that, so don't be judging people like that

The question still remains for the G.A.A. !! What steps have they taken to ensure that a similar refereeing debacle does not happen again ? What annoyed me about the whole incident was the way the G.A.A. distanced themselves from the whole thing. They were even underhand enough to offer the Meath County Board a "reward" if they granted a replay !!
The G.A.A. should by now have put a rule in place in case of a similar type incident but they did not as yet. They are content to let the referee take the flak and keep their distance. There are a number of things they could do like give the umpires and linesmen more power to make calls in these big games which would help but no they will sit on their hands and let something similar happen again and again !! They could even pass a rule at Congress giving themselves power to call a replay in "exceptional circumstances" which every county would have no problem with. Will they do this ? In my opinion NO !! Just let things fester on !!

Good post Slasher.. Usual stuff from the GAA.. PASS THE BUCK AND SWEEP IT UNDER THE CARPET HOPING IT WILL GO AWAY.. IF SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED IN A COMPROMISE RULES GAME THE GAA WOULD BE BENDING OVER BACKWAYS TO SORT IT OUT..

Dell,

So we leave things as they are and make no plans to prevent something similar happening in the future !! We us the old "Ostrich" method and say "sure that will never happen again" and move on !!
