Mesamis ,you are the epitomy of everythng that is wrong withe GAA ,if I want to see fighting I wil go to UFC or the national stadium. These lads are not good enough to play the sport properly they resort to violence backed up by the mentors of the clubs who want to win at all costs.

I love that phrase "in the heat of the moment". I'll have to check the law to see how exactly this prevents it from being a pure and simple assault and and arrestable offence. Also I don't see much heat in any moment there. He runs at a guy that's not even looking at him and hits him from behind. What would he plead to the judge? Self-defense?

You tell them Orlaith!

As for the act itself. A brave man to head butt someone who is not looking at you and who is not even involved with the player he is facing. Lad needs anger management or a good root up the arse.

805236 Disgraceful comment by Breffni, refusing to condemn it. Typical of him these days, he's gone from the nice but dim character we all loved to an edgier character who tries to be controversial for the sake of it. Sad to see

Oh please, will you ever cop on? I haven't seen the clip, youtube is blocked at work and I forgot to watch it last night.

You think I follow certain posters like straw dogs? Get real.

Where did I say that it was justified? It happened in a hurling match, no judge in the land would convict for that.

Always wanted to be the epitomy of something!!

The mock outrage is hilarious. I'd say you find something to be outraged by everyday.

Harmless enough stuff! There wearing helmets so its hardly even classed as a headbutt, its more a shove(granted,a hard one).A months ban(which he'll get) is enough.

Talk about overreacting!!! And thats comin from a laois hater.

Mesamis ,some of the things on this forum outrage me ,but in general I am quiet a happy person. On watching the video again you will see that there are actually 2 players that swing the hurley at other players heads yet people on this forum think that only deserves a 1 month ban ,unbelieveable stuff.

A fairly prominent newspaper in the area that covered the match had this to say, I can only assume the paper is talking about this incident.

"The game briefly descended into some very sour incidents after the fourth goal. An obligatory championship final scuffle went too far and saw both teams receive straight red cards. XXXXX and marker XXXXXX were both adjudged to warrant sending offs which although was the correct decision, was still disappointing considering the great hurling dual were involved in up until then.

Basically if everyone hadn't to have over reacted by jumping in they wouldn't have been sent off as the players were merely obliging the authorities in jovial fisticuffs.

Of course they deserve bans. I never said that they didn't. My problem is with people saying that they should be banned for life which is over reactionaty and ridiculous.

Could do with a bit of action like this at the so called international rules.

Could we give the aussies a set of hurls I wonder? Decent action like this would be sure to draw a good crowd & could revive the series into the future. Like the decent manly players of old (and the Rock O'Sullivan) they should dispense with those auld helmet gadgets which only get in the way of a decent schemozzel.

this is a pointless thread as i read the herald last night and the headlines in the amature soccer leagues was of a under 9 game having to be abandoned 10mins from the end because of the referee being verbaly abused and threatened so if the person who set this up thinks slating gaa matches for violence he should read his beloved soccer as it happens with 8 year olds there
