More digraceful scenes at a GAA match ,it is rrally now time to sort this problem out before someone is killed.

Tinrylandman, if you weren't constantly trying to criticise the GAA in every one of your posts, the valid points you occassionally make would be much more credible.

Mesamis

Everything that followed the initial headbutt was handbags and it wouldnt be worth any punishment ,

but the guy that stuck the lad a headbutt was out of order and acts of violence like that are unacceptable .. "if that headbutt was off the gaelic field and outside a pub it would be seen as assault .. so whats the difference in this situation ? why should the young fella get away with it ?

That youngster was headbutted with considerable force and could have had his jaw broken !! There is no place for that kind of behaviour and it was an act of cowardice !!

life ban, if you cant control yourself on a pitch you shouldnt be on one. Could easily have hit the temple and the result would have been tragic

Breffni, you make a valid point ,but for your information I love a lot of what the GAA stand for but as I have got older I have been turned off by the violence in the game that is completely ignored by most people in the GAA and yet look down on soccer people as if they are thugs .I complain about the FAI more that most people but not on this site .

Delboy.

Go way outta that man!

The boy deserves a straight red card and a lenghty suspension (games not months but thats another argument!) but no more than that. In Wayne's post he says that any player involved in an incident like that should not be allowed to play the sport again. That's a complete over reaction and, quite franky, ridiculous.

In the heat of the moment players do stupid things, as do referees, as do manager, as do people in real life. No need to over react. The boys hit each other a few skelps. That should be dealt with sensibly.

Okay then Wayne. Treat him like it happened on the street. Ban him for life. Then ban every player for life who throws a punch or an elbow, any player who draws a kick or headbutts someone on the pitch. How many players will you have in 5 years time?

He should receive a lenghty suspension but let's not over react with stupid ideas of banning players for life over a rush of blood to the head.

I think you put up the wrong video. I didn't see any violence.

A slight contretemps perhaps, but when wearing helmets grazing heads is a term of endearment rather than violence.

ALL violence is cowardice. Think about it.

Disgraceful comment by Breffni, refusing to condemn it. Typical of him these days, he's gone from the nice but dim character we all loved to an edgier character who tries to be controversial for the sake of it. Sad to see

Does anybody think this would have happened (the headbutt) if both weren't wearing helmets. The fight may still have happened but the manadory wearing of helmets alters people's approach and neck injuries are now more likely to happen.
