Its pains me to say that the shinty competition is not what it once was. A number of years ago Ireland would have sent out a very good team to the competition and normally be the victors. But now that has all changed as the bottom end of the hurling food chain is now sent to represent Ireland at international level. It is a disgrace that our national game must be exploited so badly by players from counties which are never in contetion for an all ireland at any level, iwould have thought that if we had some pride in our national game we would at least field a proper team and not players from kerry, westmeath, meath, kildare, monaghan and so on.

Up n atem, I take it you are one of the Canning brothers or maybe John Lee or Damien Hayes? Or perhaps a great from the past like Sylvie or Joe Cooney? Otherwise, you really don't have the right to be slagging off any hurler from any other county. And indeed I doubt very very much if any of the great hurlers I mentioned would take such a disparaging view of other hurlers.

Thats a bad attitude up and at em. There may be only one player from Down on the Ireland team, but he's probably our best player. True, he will never win an all ireland but at least he can represent his country a few times. The Irish side is full of smashing hurlers and to say otherwise is unfair to them.

UP N ATEM- Couldn't disagree more..one point in it and a very close game with good skill from both teams and fairly evenly balanced. If it was one sided it wouldn't be as exiting to watch. Both teams including the ALSO RAN hurlers put in 100percent

Excellent experiment and gives the lads on both sides an opportunity to represent their country. Maybe Cavan should try it out!

No not even BBC Scotland showed it. A lot of people didnt know about it including the people in RTE. I only knew the score beacuse of the Camanachd Association (Shinty) facebook page.

I'm surprised TG4 didn't show it after they showed the 1st leg. Maybe they'll have highlights on GAA 2010 tonight....
