After the poor fair in Limerick on Saturday, and little or no interest shown by the association in the Shinty/Hurling International versus their counterparts in Scotland, I was wondering the Shinty/Hurling would be a better spectacle? I cannot find the Irish squads anywhere on the web for the hurling. What01 (Westmeath) - Posts: 67 - 26/10/2010 12:33:57 803564 Link 0 |

It should but it won't. A game of under 9 camaint would be better entertainment than that compromise rules stuff sure. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 26/10/2010 13:27:48 803617 Link 0 |
Anyone know how the panel is selected for this? As far as I can see there is no-one from Tipperary, Galway or Dublin selected? onlyhurling (Galway) - Posts: 800 - 26/10/2010 16:12:00 803743 Link 0 |
The senior panel is as follows: Puddersthecat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1692 - 26/10/2010 16:41:12 803778 Link 0 |
haha just look at the players who are playing in it how could it take centre stage when the top hurlers dont want to play hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 28/10/2010 10:49:49 804863 Link 0 |
Three of the top hurlers in country ARE playing - Tommy, Jackie Tyrell and Shane Dooley. But even apart from that would prefer watching Kerry, Westmeath and Laois hurlers than the muck we saw in Limerick last weekend :-) hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 28/10/2010 11:44:54 804893 Link 0 |

Saw 2009 game on BBC Scotland. Agreed it was a smashing game, esp the finish. Would't have called the Irish team dissimilar to this year. Lot of Ring and Rackard players on it. What01 (Westmeath) - Posts: 67 - 28/10/2010 13:10:27 804955 Link 0 |
last yearsmatch was not a great game be honest it finished 1-11 v 1-08,lads stop bullshitting tommy walsh aside the rest arent near the first 15 like look at the all stars for this year how many of them in this panel hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 28/10/2010 13:47:30 804989 Link 0 |

clonjon the gaa cant nationalise hurling never mind go international with it there some countys only have 3 or 4 hurling clubs in them they should be trying to promote it there first hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 28/10/2010 14:13:14 805013 Link 0 |
hill16, look at the corner back of the all stars. The man mountain himself, Jackie Charles Bronson Tyrell. From the greatest hurling club in Ireland, James Stephens. Puddersthecat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1692 - 28/10/2010 14:38:08 805031 Link 0 |
I agree the shinty/hurling compromise rules game is a much better spectacle than the football disaster. It should be promoted much more and given a bigger stage. The last one I saw on telly was savage stuff. But probably wont happen as theres not much interest in Scotland and so wont attract major sponsorship like the football Lebowski (Meath) - Posts: 363 - 28/10/2010 14:58:29 805043 Link 0 |

I had the misfortune of sitting through one of these games a few years back, last week's game in Limerick was fantastic in comparison. Honestly awful. MB1 (Tyrone) - Posts: 360 - 28/10/2010 20:38:41 805409 Link 0 |
I think it should be given a chance. The entertainment the hurlers give all year should be rewarded with an international dimension. MARNELL (Westmeath) - Posts: 728 - 28/10/2010 21:17:17 805442 Link 0 |
