Can any team live with Mayo in the qualifiers?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

well can anyone beat mayo in the qualifiers- seriously dont think so, its a bit of a shame really as winning or losing the connacht final dont really mean anything- dish out a hammering and its all level again- shame really on the format. Croker is beckoning again another long summer awaits

Another classic windup Ballboy. My two cents on yesterday is that it was an utterly depressing affair in a dank, dark, in-need-of-urgent-repair McHale Park contested by two very very poor teams. Galway are minus a midfield and yet the so-called great combo of McGarrity & Parsons couldnt maximise on this. Joyce is surrounded by 5 players in the forwards who yesterday looked like they were unworthy of places on a club team. Dillon seemed like the only Mayo man who could break the shackles of a decent Galway defence...unlike the Godly Mortimer who like Gooch last week, proved that all hype does is ensure that your marker will put that extra bit of effort into keeping you out of the game. Its 2 years since Mayo lost dreadfully to Kerry thanks to a dire full back line...and yet no improvemnts there at all. The input into this years championship from west of the Shannon is laughable!!!

Where as Laois set the world alight by scraping past Wicklow and getting dumped by Wexford?

Im aware that its being refurbished..just using this oppurtunity to get my last dig in. Oh and its good that yell have a good stadium befitting Mayos footballing tradition, no sarcasm there.. i do mean that!! But well welcome any bookings from ye to our state of the art training facility outside Portlaoise which will be.......SELF FUNDED. Befitting the up-and-coming tradition of Laois football!

What decisions were these exactly? Were they the 2 times where Joyce had the shirt taken off him while attempting to take a shot. Still scored a goal from one of them, blatant penalty on the both counts.

If ye had got the these mythical decisions im sure the great Mort would coolly slotted them wide anyway.

Galway were 7 up at one stage and let Mayo back into iit, they got in front. That tells you how good Galway are, Mayo are worse because they had all the momentum and still LOST!!!

spudenator-

if Galway and Mayo are 'two very very poor teams' then I'd hate to think of how to describe Laois after that, ahem, superb performance against Wexford.

Yesterday's game was actually one of the better games in the championship so far, aside from a slow start the rest of the game was good hard championship stuff with alot of good scores.

It's a safe bet that at least one if not both of Galway and Mayo will still be standing after Laois are sent packing, so you should be worrying about a tricky qualifier in Longford not bothering your little head with us. Leave the big stuff to the heavyweights, something Laois will never be.

Sounds like a great game of fball there Skillachi. I know its been a while since tyrone were there but surely you's havnt' forgotten already the highs, lows and outright drama that constitutes the chship at its most intense and highest level.Enjoy the Qfiers.

40403 mayo all the way cant see how with one player galway can compete, joyce its unfair on him to have to continually fly the flag, what do ye reckon, an easy enough home win pulling up in the process and emptying the bench, realistically i couldnt see anything else happening

This is what you said a couple of weeks ago ball-boy. How can Mayo be second best team in the country?? Won 2 league matches and drew 1 and won 1 and lost 1 in Connacht. How can Connacht be the strongest provence when 1 All Ireland has gone across the Shannon in this decade?? And did the ref make Mortimer kick so many balls into the Galway keepers hands?? The ref?? Come on. Who are you trying to kid??
