795274 Getting back to the topic, the WFs are probably accomplished enough musicans, I'm not qualified to judge, but i think they sing woeful drivel. However a couple of them had a pub in Brittas years ago which i frequented quite a few times early in the day and i can confirm that they make a fine stew

Suitably admonished. There was no way it was in Derry anyhow

At least in Bellaghy the man began to recite the names of some of his fellow cell mates to try to impress us.

In the early 1970s at a so called fleadh in Carrickmore during a dispute the locals actually did kow tow at our feet when Andy Town was mentioned.

I now know you are definately lying. The Belfast boys are seen for what they are in Tyrone, full of horse manure. When thinking of Belfast the Tyrone lads, Elvis came to mind. " A little less conversation, a little more action"

Wise up Patrique theres no way Carrickmore men would be kow towing to anybody,,especially a group of stickies and hoods.

As an irish folk musician myself,i would not find alot wrong with their musical ability. After Patsy Watchorn,Tommy byrne of the wolfe tones is probably one of the finest balld singers this country has produced...however i believe they have taken alot of stick in the last few years for incorporating backing tracks into their live shows. As for the music and songs they choose to play well that is entirely up to them.as a musician i am aware of two things, you can only make a living out of it if there is enough people willing to pay the money to see and listen to you..secondly the wolfe tones are touring pretty much constantly...they have for whatever reason a huge fan base, and no one can deny them that,,why wouldnt they exploit that..if they didnt someone else would...its not even a debateable topic lads to be honest, thats the beauty of listening to music, its all about personal choice and taste,,as the old saying goes.....horses for courses.

Musicians don't wear hoods, well not in the early 1970s anyway.

A drunk accidently broke a glass, surrounded by a crowd threatening to do all sorts and claiming to be the East Tyrone La de Da.

One Belfast accent, "leave him alone unless you want a slap" much kow towing, bowing, scrapping and all the rest.

Proper order too. We hardly noticed as you get used to it.

Stll works today.

Now now Tyrone boys you are bit tetchy and defensive there, we are NOT all Sticks or touts in Belfast. Patrique has you well wound up there on the end of his line and has you all biting. You can perhaps now understand why there was so much internal Republican feuding particularly in Belfast. They didn't like each other, still don't and barely tolerate each other and it's even worse now that the building game is on the slide.

Now Now good people The Wolfe Tones are legends of yester year and wrote some classic songs remembering great Irish Hero's my favourite being (Joe McDonnell R.I.P)
I Would love to see the lads do 1 More year as a rebel band and Re United together for It. If any people are interested in a good old sing song of a republican nature you should come to a Druids Gig or check them out on www.thedruidsrebelband.ie excellent live band and write their own songs as well.

i agree about Glasgow Celtic been used and abused through Rebel songs or even rebel bands is wrong. be proud of our heros who died for a free Ireland not a Football club.
anyone know of any good rebel pubs post up

if i wore a rangers jersey and walked up o'connell st or any main street in any town in ireland how long do think it would take before i was physically attacked?

yet if i wore any other british teams soccer jersey i would be fine, its simple the vast majority of celtic fans in ireland are more interested in sectarianism than soccer.

You would be getting a knuckle sandwich very quickly if you wore a celtic jersey walking through Portadown,Coleraine,Donemana, and various other places such as Shankill Rd,Sandyrow,Tigers Bay etc etc.The same would happen in various parts of England,Scotland,Wales,France,Germany,Italy etc etc, albeit for a different type of bigotry.

How many UEFA fan awards do Rangers/Man U/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs fans have? How many bans from European football do they have? Who is the ONLY European club NOT to be presented with the winning trophy in public in a major European final because their fans were rioting in the stadium? Go on have a guess..............GLASGOW RANGERS v Moscow Dynamo in The Nou Camp in 1972 after they won the Cup Winners cup; they were given the trophy in the dressing room because of their fans behaviour. Remember Liverpool at Heysel in 1985, Leeds in Paris in 1975, Spurs v Anderlecht in 1982, Man Utd v St. Etienne in 1977 ALL major violent football incidents involving English clubs and the usual suspects Rangers.

NI fans also got a similar award, are you saying they are not sectarian? For the vast majority of supporters these awards are not necessary because they behave like normal human beings whereas celtic and NI fans get an award for not rioting!....its remarkable you actually take pride in it.

celtic fans have disgraced themselves numerous times over the years - attacking opposition players on the pitch, rioting both in scotland and ireland, attcking police and opposition supporters, singing IRA songs in london and manchester..etc

I am sure the Wolfe Tones are not losing too much sleep at the West Brits and Unionists who dominate the Irish media and the sour bakes on HS. They are laughing all the way to the bank and good luck to them. Brian Warfield is a very very accomplished musician and Tommy Byrne is an extremely good ballad singer. The Helicopter Song has to be up there as one of the best satirical tunes ever written in Irish music.
