An ex-interpro rugbyist once told me football was a device invented by the english to prevent us being a world power at rugby. Maybe he was right! Remember we had O'Gara and Humphries vying for the out-half spot? Throw in Maurice Fitz and Ciaran MacDonald and it gets a whole lot more interesting. And I reckon Jack O'Shea would've captained the Lions from blindside flanker!
A good any of the current Irish team and it's fringes are ex-GAA men, of course. Gavan Duffy, Rob Kearney, Shane Horgan, Tommy Bowe, Geordan Murphy all played with serious distinction. I believe Johne Murphy and Leamy weren't bad either. Quite the international rules team they're make!
