This thread is only a small part about Tyrone minors great achievement. It was set up to big up Tyrone. Now Tyrone's achievements these past ten years have been exceptional at all levels and they do deserve their recognition.

However this thread was set up on the night that Cork won the All-Ireland. Are some that insecure that they had to set up a thread about how great their own county is just because all the limelight was on someone else?

Tyrone are the team of the decade when it comes to head to heads with Kerry.

Last decade that was Cork. Beat kerry 4 times in Munster.

This decade? Kerry have yet to lose to Cork.

So far thisdecade, all 9 months of it, that means kerry must be the team of the decade.

Ah now thats a very cynical way of looking at it. So minor champions are no longer allowed celebrate with a thread out of respect for the senior champions, but if they insist they must celebrate that solitary success and strictly no others.

Just leave Tyrone and Cork to celebrate their victories however they so wish.

And a cautionary tale.

I remember near the end of the 1960s and running into the early 70s Cork seemed to win all the underage football, including a 3 in a row at U21.

They won one sam in the 1970s as they came up againsy Kerry and dublin teams who had won nothing at underage.

They also defeated Fermanagh in two of those U21 finals, and Fermanagh failed to build on that.

Indeed they were supplanted by Tyrone who were doing well at Minor in the early 70s, and valiantly losing to Antrim in Ulster U21 finals in 74 and 75, Frank Mcguigan et all were about then.

However this did not yield any senior success.

And I know. I live in the ONLY county to have won an all Ireland U21 and not translate that into at least a senior provincial title.

Makes you proud to be from Antrim.

i'm confused now should i pick 2010 as part of the noughties, then my reign is over in a matter of months or should I be so honoured at your very kind award that I could jump ship and join pig.ignorant.

THERE WAS A YEAR ZERO!

Pope gregory was at matins when they covered the initial years of the calander (a little known fact that I conceald while I hatched my plan for world domination)

and now because of this debate i have identified tha feeble minded who will be the workers and the enlightened ones who will be generals

Breff:

Of course Tyrone should celebrate their minor success and I never suggested that they should not.

This thread actually over shadows the minors in a way by bringing up all the past success of other teams.

Let the Tyrone minors and Cork seniors have their day in the sun is perhaps the best way of summing up my point.

I would ask the Ladies football team who have had to pay their own way too qualify for the final, or indeed the hurlers, if Tyrone's achievements are been GIVEN recognition by the Tyrone board or club Tyrone.

I already know the answer.
