774556 tifram, that was one interesting post and I am stumpped..........Cork lads help out...answer tifram!

---------------------

Our man tifram must have never watched Canty drive forwar5d his team from CHB, or make an inspirational catch, or seen the way his team mates look up to him & respond to him. He is a leader in the Geezer mould.

What you haven't mentioned about that International rules test that you attended in 2003 is that John O'Keeffe made him captain for the series when he was only 23!

Tifram i was at a Cork Kerry game years ago when Colin Corkery destroyed Seamus Moynihan. Every player has a bad day. Canty is not and never was a full back. He was put there because they couldnt trust anyone else. Full back is not his game but he so versatile he could adapt reasonably well. Canty very rarely does anything wrong in a game and that is what marks him out as being top class. In my opinion he is far superior to a player like McGeeney. Tifram doing go mentioning Paddy Christie in the same threadas the great man that is Canty

Well all things being equal then Cadogan should probably get the starting place and would make an able replacement. I just don't think Canty can be 100% and like KK with Sheflin a lot of damage may be done by starting him. Either way they are two very good players and would not fear one bit if Canty does not start.

Graham Canty is not the soul and heart of the Cork team that title belongs to Niochlas Murphy eaisly the best footballer in Cork and he cannot get his place on the team Connor Counihan and Co what are you doing ?

Lads their is no doubt imo that Cadogan and Murphy have to start. Its crminal if they dont. The only thing that will lose us this final is Conor Counihan. He really does worry me with his team selection. Start Canty only if he is flying this week in training, He nearly cost us againt Dublin. I have great time for Canty but the poor fella was way off it against Dublin. Counihan has to make the right call. Last year his tactics in the final where desperate. He better get it right this time.

I think Canty will start, he will lead his team into battle, he will then be replaced by Cadogan. With 10 to 15 mins left, he will be reintroduced and will lift the Sam
Maquire trophy.

He will only need to play the first 15 minutes. Game will be over by then.

I'm not so sure if they should start him. I think he's a very good player and would certainly make a difference. He can do all the fitness tests he likes, but the pressure that you put on your body in a game is totally different. The cutting, side stepping, stopping, starting and changing of direction is much more intense and you could easily injure it again. I'm sure Henry Shefflin did all sorts of fitness tests, but when it came to the intensity of the game, his knee couldn't hold up. Eoin Cadogan should be starting for me anyway, whether Canty is fit or not, so you should be looking at who else can be bought into the team. If he does start, he could play for while, bring him off and then bring him back on, which could give the team a big lift. My feeling is that he will start.

i cannot believe that Connor Counihan has named Grahan Canty in the Cork team for the final on sunday and not started Niochlas Murphy

Down must be over the moon with those decisions the game is now there for them to win

He had a grade 2 hammy injury in the quarterfinal against Roscommon.
Bring him on as a sub, because I don't think he could play 70 minutes full bore...in my amatuer medical opinion.

Connor Counihan got it right yesterday he brought on Graham Canty at the right time in the game and it proved to be a excellent move

Counian answered his critics yesterday, got it spot on during the second half, but Cork really struggled early on. A good manager is ranked on how he reacts to adversity, and he did that well yesterday.
