I thought Chrissy McKaigue was a cert but fair play to Tohill for not doing a 'Boylan' when picking his players.

Am I right in saying there's only four All stars on the panel? I think the Aussies only have 2 or 3 All Australians on theirs. People were complaing that the "best" players weren't playing but this is a different game altogether!

What will this series bring i wonder? Will it be a bloodbath or will we see cosmo the jack russell getting a run out again?

Can only assume Benny Coulter is on standby because he's injured, otherwise he'd surely be a cert - one of Ireland's best performers in past series and always good for a goal or two.

Well done to Brendan Murphy - the whole country will now see what a super talent he really is.

Nice to see Hanley VC. Presuming Meehan didn't go to the training? I thought he was one of the stand-out players last time. Thought Bradshaw might get a look in too. Anyways, looks a very strong team, would like to have seen more from Kerry, especially Galvin, but I suppose there wasn't a chance in hell of that happening!

Very good team. Would have liked to seen Benny Coulter on the actual team after his preformances this year. And what about Donacha Oconnor from Cork. Big, strong, good hands and great accuracy. Everything that you nee to play this game. But i dont pick the team so i cant do anything about it. Good luck anyway to the boys and hopefully they can retain the cup.

I think that brendy mc veigh should have been considerd for a place has he has been outstanding this year for down on their amazing run to the final!! And he proved that he was the best keeper in ireland this year by getting an allstar!! I think he should have been picked instead of the westmeath keeper!! And i am surprised that a few other players hould have been picked!!

I think that the team is very strong. I'm glad that we've taken advantage of using a good lot of players who play or who have played Aussie Rules. As an Armagh fan, I'm delighted that Steven McDonnell has been named captain. He's been a great player for Ireland over the years and is a great choice. The likes of Cavanagh, McKeever, Canty, Cluxton and Glynn were all shoe ins. It's good to see that Goulding and Donaghy have been rewarded for fine seasons. I'm really looking forward to the tests now and think that under lights the atmosphere will be great.

Steven McDonnell (Armagh, captain), Finian Hanley (Galway, vice-captain), Colm Begley (Laois), Bernard Brogan (Dublin), Graham Canty (Cork), Seán Cavanagh (Tyrone), Martin Clarke (Down), Stephen Cluxton (Dublin), Brendan Donaghy (Armagh), Leighton Glynn (Wicklow), Daniel Goulding (Cork), James Kavanagh (Kildare), Paddy Keenan (Louth), Tadhg Kennelly (Kerry), Seán McDermott (Roscommon), Ciarán McKeever (Armagh), Kevin McKernan (Down), Brendan Murphy (Carlow), Michael Murphy (Donegal), Kevin Reilly (Meath), Michael Shields (Cork), Tommy Walsh (Kerry)

Australia captain and Sydney player Adam Goodes has told of the new goodwill between both countries: "I've already had a text from Tadhg Kennelly saying he's looking forward to embarrassing me in front of 80,000 at Croke Park."
