Thank god it's over is all I have to say.
a) Because it's boring.
b) The appalling standard of analysis by the media and assorted GAA forum users. "Our players can't kick the ball anymore!" You weren't complaining when the exact same players were scoring from all angles during the summer. Do people honestly think that Brogan, McDonnell, Cavanagh, Murphy, Coulter etc. have poor kicking skills?
It's a different game for gods sake. We play it for a couple of weeks every couple of years. A bit of perspective please.

Lads seriosuly. If you dont like it you dont have to watch it. In fact you dont even have to come onto a GAA forum and comment on it.

Ive rarely if ever heard of a player turning down the chnace to play it for the reason he didnt "agree" with it, so let them have it.

806525 I think worst player on team was Sean Cavanagh

You do not know much bout the game if you think that.

Ditch it and promote the shinty/hurling game better.
Far more entertaining.

ok im going to speak on behalf of the people who went and supported their country. it is far better to watch live then on telly. the atmosphere is actually far better than it appears on telly too. and it is a better atmosphere than most inter-county games in croke park for example the meath laois game this year or the louth westmeath game. over half the people there were kids and all seemed to have a great time. it was good craic on the hill and all you need is a a few more of the dubs or royals who would be there over the summer to go and you would get an unreal atmosphere (sick of hearing the fields of athenry sung by 100 drunk northerners under the age of 16). anyway this has a future and if the first test in limerick wasn't a painful game of soccer (id rather go to mass than watch that) croke park would of had 80,000 at it.

omagh -are you judging the quality by the gate receipts. It was pure rubbish to watch. Has this game any value to our own and if it has would someone please explain and not sure what purpose or who it is serving. I would say that the squad was nowhere near the best players for the job in hand and that can be easily demonstrated by the absence of some of the best players in the country (Kerry players!)

it has great potential once it is played like the second half yesterday. michael murphy sowed us how it should be played. who was number 12 for ireland? he shouldn't be anywhere near an aussie rules team and same for 1 or 2 others. i still galvin was a huge loss. we needed someone who was capable of catching our kick-outs.

Congratulations to Australia they were awesome - the shape of the ball was irrelevant with off the ball work rate like that. Some of the points they took were unbelievable all things considered.
The game has it's knockers but yis all either bought tickets or sat down and watched it on telly, and no doubt you will again next year..... that's why the game will continue.... bunch of closet IR fans the lot of ye!

I didnt say you cant or shouldnt, i just said if you dont like it you dont have to watch it or worry about it at all. Calling for it to be adandoned isnt very fair on the people who do like it though, is it?

As a sceptic, the game lacks continuity with the proliference of short marks creating too much stop start;if you were to remove the "mark" for back passes and increase the range to 30+ mtrs it certainly would improve the flow ofthe game. However it is a hybrid game played twice competitively a year and no game is going to be perfected with such infrequency; sure don't we keep changing our own rules in a haphazzard manner;on the plus side of the sixty thousand there there would have been in excess of 40 thousand kids in Croke shouting for Ireland watching players representing their own country, many for the first time ever or under floodlights. that has to be a bonus; if we could channel that same interest and enthusiasm and numbers for the Inter Pros on two weekends under lights in Croke Park

well i didnt watch any of the matches, cos i felt and said before the 1st game it was a waste of time, and by what ive read since saturday night, alot of people are saying the same thing. and then i laughed when i read kevin reilly saying they were'nt used to the ball cos it was'nt an o'neills ball, could have been worse kevin, you could've been using an aussie ball.

To be honest, other than the result,I enjoyed it overall.Fact is the players selected were not the best in the country. We didn't have Paul Kerrigan,Michael Meehan,Kieran Donaghy,John Galvin,Paul Galvin,Noel O Leary,Mick Darragh McAuley,Gooch Cooper,Ciaran Lyng,Karl Lacey,Justin & Joe McMahon,Philly Jordan,Pearse O Neill,Donie Shine,Declan O Sullivan,Joe Sheridan, etc etc.now a lot of these lads had club commitments or injuries or didn't fancy it or weren't selected, but the fact is,if we had some of these lads out there over the last 2 Saturdays,we would have won the game,so there shouldn't be so much doom and gloom.
We were lacking in some of the basic skills, the tackle in particular,we can't seem to grasp how to do it properly&at times we were too slow on the ball, but sure everyone is lauding the Aussies&saying we were brutal yet there was only 10 in it in the end.next year,we'll be more prepared for it&im sure the lads that didn't fancy it this year, won't mind 3wks in Australia next October. ~PHS

There wouldn't have been anyone in Croker on Sat. night last but for the kids, boys and girls.Fair dues to the parents and clubs for bringing them as it seemed to be a great occasion in their eyes. However this game will have no relevance to any kid who might be thinking of taking up Gaelic Football as their sport. The Irish players couldn't catch, pass or kick the ball and if it wasn't for ten minutes in the last quarter it would have been a total embarassment. As regards the "gate receipts" mentioned earlier, where is this money going ???

Paddy Keenan (Ireland no.12 PettystownRoyal) was the only player to tackle the man properly in both test games, that was, around the waist and take him to ground.

begley was our best player over the 2 games, his passes hit there man almost every time and he tackled properly taking his man down, he was used of it from his AFL time. overall i think we were coached very poorly which is a pity cause i like tohill. once we got the agg score down to 3 points we made some poor decisions. marty took a mark near the sideline and balooned it wide at that time, pity we couldnt have cooled it a bit then(marty had a good game though, he has some left foot). i think the auusies deserved it in the end, some of the points they took were brilliant, we would be proud of them, there short passing was spot on every time and there handballs also, short and to the man. mick malthouse seems a gentleman and didnt want any thuggery associated with his name or team, fair dues to him.
