Am I right in thinking there's been no O'hAilpins on the team since '04? Setanta might have a point to prove to Carlton this time around. Seems to have been dropped for no reason.

There's a lot of lads playing in the final who I'd love to see on the team; Marty Clarke obviously, Kalum King, Canty says he's looking forward to it, Shields, Cadogan.

The diagonal ball tactic that Kerry revived a coupe of years back is perfect for IR - taking marks in front of goal, handy enough tap over. With that in mind, a few tall lads like Cussen, Donaghy and AN Other O'hAilpin wouldn't go amiss, especially with the likes of Brogan or McDonnell feeding off any breaks. If the whole country was up for selection we'd have quite a team!

Hope the GAA suspends club action for the fortnight for the lads involved.

Agree with one of the above posts- Finian Hanley and Mike Meehan were superb on the last tour and I hope they are both available this time round.

International Rules 2010

Anyone know where I can see a team list for the international rules or has it been announced yet?

All the O halpins are ruled out according to the Times today. Some of the Cork and Down players are being called up now, with Marty Clarke being a near cert. Some mention of Tadgh Kennelly and Tommy Walsh too.

I had thought I heard somewhere that Tohill said he wouldn't be considering Irish players playing Down Under? Or did I imagine that? Doesn't sound right the more I think about it!!

I dunno about ye lads but after a very satisfying football championship,I'm actually really looking forward to this series.I hope the Aussies embrace it and I hope the Irish put up a serious fight and a good show.
Great idea playing it in Limerick. Am I right in saying this will actually be the first time the Gaelic Grounds will be full since it's redevelopment?

I don't think he said that specifically. But he did say that he wouldn't be picking any players that don't play Inter-County Football, whether that includes those who play down-under or not, i couldn't tell you.

If we are to have any chance of beating the Aussies we need to have Cluxton in goal as the most important aspect of this game is going to be accuracy of passes from kickouts and he is by a country mile the most accurate kicker we have.

Kicks are from the hand so Cluxton has no advantage over anyone there

The International Rules

The Aussie's never seem to send over a full strength team. They always send over medocre players!! I think that Ireland will win the 2 tests, comprehensivly!!

One of these days, he might get a thread not incorpated in an already existing thread.

As for the post itself, well Meehan, Brogan and Coulter is a fine full-forward line in either code, Compromise Rules or Gaelic Football, but not the best in either in my opinion.

For the Compromise Rules, I'd like to see a full-forward line of James Kielt, Keiren Donaghy and Marty Clarke with Clarke dropping deep to play a role fairly similiar to the one with Down.

I've not really been convinced by Meehan in the past few seasons. For all the potentially good forwards, Galway have had in the last four or five years, Joyce is still their main operator. Meehan still needs to step it up as he's a long way off being Joyce's heir. Brogan, fine athlete, though he may be would not be suited to playing the Australians in my opinion.
