Terrible game, terrible concept. It should be abolished.

why where they playing high balls into a full forward line that was never going to win a ball in the air? low fast football, surely cant be that difficult for the 'cream' of Irish gaelic football. When we started to put pressure on in the last quarter and started to play like how we know, we started getting scores. Theres more a tendancy to match what the aussies are doing instead of playing our own game.

Dreadful game, I dont honestly believe the actual players have even any desire to play it at this stage and Ive no doubt a lot of Irish people have completely lost interest in it. Let them Aussies off and lets just stick to our own Football and Hurling. That Int. Rules is neither one thing or another. Its pure rubbish and instead of players wasting their own time and energy on it they should be recharging the batteries for the League next year or even the smaller competitions in January such as O'Byrne Cup etc..

Its a boring game. Very slow moving. The 'mark' is a joke and the game is played under 90% Aussie rules. Somebody mentioned that this is the cream of Gaa players. More like a second string.

Only 40,000 tickets sold for the second test - 4 reasons
1. the economy
2. no publicity - an absolute disaster - who had the brainwave of giving the sponsorship rights to the daily mail - an english newspaper with very anti - itish tones especially in the 80's and 90's - no build up -
3. TG4 covering it and not RTE although TG4 is a far superior station to rte - but it hasn't helped here
4 the mark and the tactics of the Irish would turn it off

ALSO
5. the complete failure of rte or other print media to publise it

Another reason for the poor crowd is that it clashes with club games. Cant be in 2 places at once!

I thought the tactics of not picking the ball of the ground or tapping it on instead of catching it were very clever and, at times, very well used. However I do think they over done it in the end, they need to realsie when to use it and when not to.

I thought McDonnel had a good game
as well as glynn, however the ball into the forwards wasnt great. Saying that I think the forwrds have to take some of the stick for that too as they seemed to be hiding at times. Bernard Brogan was missing for most of the match, although he did take his goal brilliantly. Michael Murpy was very disappointing (what was he doing with that free he lined up with his right and then shot wide with his left) and expected more from Tommy Walsh.

What worries me is that i think the game was very similar to the one played in connaught a few years back (poor game which came to life for the alst 10 minutes) and we all know what happened in the second test that year. Australia will up the ante on Saturday and we need to match that if we have a hope of being in sight.

We would have been better off if McDonnell went missing seeing as he couldn't hit the side of Navan shopping centre when he shoots.

The fizz is taken out also by the players function they had in the lead up to the match....can you imgaine Kerry and Cork players having a drink/meal with each other before an Munster final or Derry and Monaghan doing the same???? Maybe the mark could be taken out as this is obviously an advantage when handling an Oval ball because that is extremely more difficult to hold than a round ball!!!!! Anthony Tohill has proved he is also the Nick Faldo of Ryder Cup by letting his ego get in the way of team selection....to have no Galvin and Donaghany is a disgrace, marquee names who may have added extra bums to seats, who knows???? Make Mick O Dwyer manager next season for his swansong and lets hope Tohill doesnt become manager of Derry anytime soon!!!!!

Only Irish players to play well were Canty, Cluxton and Glynn.
Brogan got a great goal but saw no ball.
Tadhg won plenty ball but his distrubution and Shooting was chronic. Tommy was worse!

look at this statement....The Gaelic Athletic Asociation continued to foster the gooodwill between both teams by hosting a dinner at Croke Park after yesterday's training session.

Players from both sides sat on tables with each other. Collingwood's Tyson Goldsack sat next to his former teammate Marty Clarke

So i guess we are in for another timid evening this saturday, the Aussies wont be up for sledging cause both sets of players are like best friends after all these dinner dates they are having and just imagine if they did do the sledging to the Irish, that would only give the Irish extra incentivte to go harder in for the ball especically since they wont have met them in a social environment but as was reported during week, more likely to get a handshake than a punch....well done GAA for single handling ruining International Rules with pureile procedures that everyone must conform to, almost like what you have done to your own game as shown by the kicking at the weekend!!!!!!!!

the real problem was the lack of team play kennely, goulding, cavanagh and walsh were out for themselves extremly greedy and none of them could shoot. i notcied 4 times brogan had his arms outstretched screaming for a pass and kennelly looked at him and kicked it to another player or wide, goulding was hungry for his own scores few times there was a goal on if he gave it but tried for his own shot, cluxton and canty were by far the best players

ah lads come on, it just shows how much the hand pass is used by every county, the aussies use the mark a lot more than we do, we hand pass and dont use the kick. if they did they it would slow down the game and work themselves into better positions, but the never thought of that did they. we will be slaughtered on saturday if they dont up there game thats for sure, I hope they looked at the d v d of last weeks game a few times and see how hard it was to watch. Im hoping its a better game and that ireland get stuck in from the start. they may do because the aussies are up for this and know they have the beating of the irish. so I hope Tohill has an ace up his sleeve.

International Rules goal king Benny Coulter should be back for the second test, big boost for the Irish... the 'Australia Hates Benny Coulter' facebook page is a testament to how lethal Benny's been in the past. Marty Clarke and Benny Coulter linking up once again, Aussies beware...

unless theres a bit of needle in the game on Saturday night - the two legs are going to be viewed as boring and too tame - This is first time in my life Im not really looking forward to going to Croke Park on what is probably going to be a wet and windy night . Hope Im wrong and theres a big scrap , maybe we should ask the louth supports to come down and run on the pitch slap a couple of Aussies around! :)
