doesn't matter how fit they were...some of the best forwards in the country for whatever reasons are sitting at home watching...donaghy, cooper, o'neill, etc...sean cavanagh must have been trying to outscore the aussies with wides (oops sorry thats a point)..what a joke of a game

Really awful mess of a game: considerably worse than either a game of gaelic football or aussie rules. Hopefully tonight also answers those pundits looking for a "defined" tackle (ie a rugby tackle) to be introduced to gaelic football. Look what the "defined" tackle did tonight: players afraid to take possession of the ball, and tip-tapping it around the field, whacking aimless ball towards the opposition. Also the mark really kills the flow of the game. When Ireland actually tried to play gaelic football for the last 7 or 8 minutes the aussies were in serious bother. Class goal from Brogan, though: quick movement of the ball from Glynn, attack with power and pace and clinical finish.
Surely the amount of money spent on this hybrid would be better spent in reviving a good inter-provincial series, for example?

The first test is always a bit quiet, the second test in Croke Park should be livelier but we really need to start attacking more and where have all the tackles gone!?

ah come on this game doesn't have a tacle...how many times were players blown for not putting in the "right" tackle...its a nonsense of a game...doesn't matter about next week..this game is dead in the water...aussies will run riot given their run out this week....agree with football first..these players should have been representing their provinces this weekend in a feast of GAELIC FOOTBALL in croke park

total rubbish.some players who are playing with their clubs tomorrow should have copped on and realise that the club is more important than anything.

dellboy we'll have to disagree on cavanaghs performance....he did a great job once of kicking the ball twice to 2 aussie players in the space of 5 seconds...oh yes and all those wides...(ah sure they were points)...i see he just left off from his performance against dublin

Donaghy was a big loss. I couldn't tell what role Tommy Walsh was playing. One absolutely savage mark from his tho

Absolute rubbish of a game & whatever skill there was in it was shown by the Australians. Startled earwigs comes to mind when assessing the Irish performance. Hope this finishes this hybrid game for good & we can get back to our own beautiful game.

Of what I saw of the game it looked pretty sloppy.. no flow, no life and no bite.. our middle quarter looked dead on their feet and were launching hopeless balls in with the Aussies moping up everything.. we lacked a bit of class like the Gooch, Galvin, Joyce, O'Neill etc. didn't take the game to the Aussies at all until the last few minutes..

Actually, the first tackle (Marty Clarke) was excellent. Sure enough the Aussie umpire threw it in instead of giving Ireland a free for not releasing.
