your arguement that country guys playing in dublin is an advantage for dublin is completly wrong. its actualy been the oppisite, there are far too many country guys getting payed to play in clubs in dublin and its destroying the chances of the county teams. the good underage players cant get into the senior teams and then are not allowed transfer from 1 dublin club to another its not just eamonn fennell there are huge numbers of guys who are not allowed play gaelic games because of these stupid rules.
Nonsense suggesting that Kilkenny are doing something wrong by perpetuating an interest in hurling. Success leads to interest, look at rugby in Ireland in the wake of our six nations triumph.
What is in fact ridiculous is this expectation that is held in GAA circles that small, predominantly rural counties like Laois, Longford, Offaly and yes, even Kilkenny should be competitive in both hurling and football. The numbers aren't there to support the two codes, let's be realistic. Why not allow football clubs in Kilkenny to compete in the Laois or Wexford championship? That's one very simple way of raising the standard of football in the area.
