How many county grounds have you been to?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Was just wondering on average how many county grounds your average GAA fan has been to. Myself and my brother were bored on the way to Casement this year and counted ours as the following:

Leinster:
Newbridge
Portlaoise
Tullamore
Mullingar
Navan
Carlow
Longford
Kilkenny

Connacht:
Castlebar
Roscommon

Munster:
Thurles
Limerick

Ulster:
Belfast

Assuming you don't count Croker, that's 13 out of 32 (34 if you count London and NY) which seems pretty low. Is it?

Unfortunately I am old enough to be able to say which ones I've never been to! Only county in Leinster whose county ground I've never been in is Louth/Drogheda. Been in all the rest and in some cases seen Dublin play at more than one location, eg Athy and Newbridge in Kildare.

In Munster have been at matches in every county although in Clare it was Tulla not Ennis. Never in Killarney either.

Connaught: been in Tuam and Ballinasloe but not Pearse. Was in Athleague and Hyde Park, Castlebar, Carrick on Shannon but never at game in Sligo.

Ulster: Never at match in Donegal. Have been in Enniskillen, Bellaghy, Newry, Casement, Crossmaglen, Armagh Athletic Grounds, Clones, Cavan.

So of 32 counties, have been in 30! As I say, I'm old :-(

What about the older grounds that were once county grounds. Dungannon, Lurgan, Irvinestown, Ballinascreen, Newcastle, Castleblaney etc. All these grounds held big matches in the 1970's 1980's.

Yes age is def catching up with you, so much so that you can't count:- you say you have never been at a match in Louth, Donegal or Sligo and you havent mentioned a Tyrone venue so thats 28 not 30, any others you have missed?
