lads americans and new yorkers hold the idea of freedom very close to their hearts. they hold the freedom of religion in particularly high regard. they are not as ignorant as the few usual attention seekers on here. New Yorkers know that Al-Qaeda terrorists carried out the 9/11 attacks not 'muslims'. Those that i have spoken to are happy enough to have a mosque there as much as a church, synagogue or temple.

I would recommend some posters read one of many books written about the religious influence on Nazism, in particular 'Catholicism and the roots of Nazism' written by Derek Hastings. I am not for a second stating Catholicism was responsible for Nazism; I am stating that there were many facets to the origin and actions of Nazism, religion being one. Somewhat naive to think there has ever been a war in which religion played no part - ignorance is not always bliss, sometimes it is just plain ignorance. The States may be a very liberal and tolerant society, but the peoples of Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq don't see this.

I'm proposing some form of Electronic tag so that when you come within 1 kilometer of ground zero or an airport it goes off and the police are alerted. How dare muslims go near an airport after 9/11.

ta32 out of interest look at this situation. In 1993 the IRA Bombed Warrington. The first bomb reported no Fatalities the second bomb attack kills two children RIP. Ten years later in 2003 there is a proposed Irish centre with Community facilities for irish people to have a pint watch the GAA etc with a Catholic chapel inside. This centre is proposed to be built a couple of streets away from bridge street. The locals get wind of this and lodge objections. Permission is turned down to build this centre because of the sensitivities involved.

Now answer this honestly without no predijuices toward me or anyone else. Would you be against this Irish centre going in the area? or would you be outraged by denying it permission?

my intentions on here on this thread were sincere and without malice , the suffering that had taken place that day in new york was terrible the loss of life and of which the manner of which the lives were taken were terrible , now when i came across this thread and read about what was being proposed , i let mt feelings be known and it being , my thoughts are with the families of all the loved who were lossed that day , also the pain that still exist in the minds of many american families and friends who were affected by this they still have reminders of what they have lossed by looking at the new york skyline , futhermore they do not need this project to go ahead , it would only enhance their pain and suffering , what they need is level headed people with empathy who can understand their pain and suffering and also yes build community relations , but this not the way forward , they need to comforted in the sense that their memories of their loved will not put aside by ill advised judgements or proposal , i want to also put across heres to all the brave firemen and emergency services who worked tirelessy that day , and still do to this day and never forget anyone who has suffered that whatever faith they come from .

this is my last post on this issue my intentions and thoughts were of a caring nature nothing more , CUIMHNEOIMIS GO DEO O9-11-01.

Once ta32 started rabbiting on about defenders of our island he lost me. This thread is a joke. It is not being built on the site of the twin towers. People need to get over themselves big time. I spend a lot of time in New York but our learned friend from tyrone must be part of the senate over there with the rubbish he's coming out with. The spelling errors were a nice touch too, especially when he was having a go at other peoples slight errors! 9/11 was a terrible atrocity but there has been a lot of covering up done in my opinion. Especially with the so called crash at the Pentagon site. Amazing that there is not one piece of footage from the plane that crashed into the building that looks after its own homeland security! At the risk of sounding like crazy Jim Corr, there is a lot we don't know about that happened that day.
