Kilkenny V Tipperary All Ireland SHC Final 2010

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Best of luck to Tipperary. Painful as it is to say it, Tipperary's mind wasn't on it, that day at the Pairc. Against Kilkenny, Cork seemed stuck to the ground and made Kilkenny's job easier with their stupid hand-passing. Kilkenny would have won, anyway, but I would have liked to see Cork giving them a bit more opposition. If Tipperary are firing on all cylinders for the entire match, it will be close, maybe even a draw.

Tipp by 6 or 7 points at their ease.

Aye layer I'd be happier if you were tipping Kilkenny for the win the way your predictions went the last time.... I could understand you saying that waterford could beat tipp but I still can understand you thinking cork would beat kilkenny.... But then again you always have had a fondness for the underdog ;)

I couldnt understand anyone saying Waterford could beat Tipp who was going to score for Waterford they only have John Mullane how could they beat Tipp and then try to stop Kelly McGrath etc..

Mooncat and slayer do ye really think that Cody doesn't know if they are going to make it or not? I know Cody never played mind games before but kk were never going for 5 in a row before.

tipptothetop,I dont think Brian knows if they will make it or not,Henry and the medical team will make the call, and even if Henry starts there is no guarantee he will be able to keep going, there is much training and testing to be done before any team is announced,Brian and Henry will put the team first,I will say it again Brian doesnt do mind games, one of the greatest players of all times doesnt play mind games,Brian Cody will pick his team on their current form and fitness,no sentiment and that include Henry,do you not think he is right to give Henry every chance to play in the final? Henry is so determined to play that he will do everything that is humanly possible to get himself fit,and tipptothetop if you think Brian is playing mind games do you think Dr Tadgh O,Sullivan made a wrong diagnosis of Henrys injury

Mooncat I never questioned Shefflins desire to play, of course he wants to play its an All-Ireland and he is going for history so there is not a question about him wanting to play or not and as regards the doc I am not questioning his diagnosis what I am questioning is the way this has been portrayed to us, we were told first that it would take a miracle for Shefflin to play and as someone that has done my cruciate before, first a slight tear played a game before I got surgery and totally ruptured it and my cartilage aswell. 2 operations later the doc told me to forget about playing anymore! When I done the first tear it was over a week before the swelling went down and it was very sore, now to the best of my knowledge Shefflin was doing laps in ul, there is no way that I would've been able to run on it, never mind being able to play in a game or train within 3 weeks. What we were first told was 'miracle' then he went to ger hartmann to strenghten it up supposedly before surgery next thing he is doing laps in ul on it and then he is back training within 3 weeks and playing well in training. So you are trying to tell me just over a week from the biggest game in kk history that 2 of their top players have cruciate damage another is going around in crutches and there are no mind games involved?? That Cody doesn't know if they are going to make it? Let's say it was Waterford in the final, Brick and Mullane were in the same situation and then Kelly got injured but they are all training what would you say? Ah Davy and his mind games!!!

tipptothetop...firstly, the initial medical diagnosis was no chance. 2nd opinion from Hartmann....chance. If it was mind games, they would have hushed it up and let Henry train down in Limerick and brought him out on the final day. Cody is giving Henry every chance to prove he is fit which is only fair given the service the King has porvided to Cody over the years. And Henry is doing everything he can to be involved as it is a historic match. Everyone in KK knew on Monday Henry was going to be training on Wednesday.

As for the difference between you and Henry....I assume you didn't get into an oxyegen tank within a few hours of your injury to minimise the swelling which Henry did in Whites in Wexford. Didn't even wait for the end of the match, they were in a taxi on route before the final whistle had been blown.

Personally I can't see henry being fit enough to start but can see him coming on with 20 to go when the match is on the boil. Imagine the lift that would bring from the KK crowd.

Henry Shefflin has no more of a cruciate injury than my jack russell out the back. typical Kilkeenny fear of Tipp it always surfaces history and tradition always repeat!

Any truth in the rumour that Kilkenny are bringing back John Power and Noel Skehan for the Tipp game cos as Henry and Tennyson are supposed to be injured they dont seem to have much "strength in depth " on the bench as they now have to play the two boys injured or not!!

The more Thurles Sarsfields men we have on the Tipp team the better! We have 4 on the panel now and young Denis Maher will be on it next year we had 11 on the panel in the 60s the greatest hurling team of all time!
