cornelius, I agree totally - look at my post earlier. I had to make two and a half teams to manage to fit in my favourite players.

Its only natural that the big performances best remembered are when your own county did well, just as you will try to blank out that day that your neighbours hammered you or your team got ate at MF...

any one notice that nearly everyone is picking a back line that beat the life out of any team. hard as nails. its amazing we are all like our aul ones picking a team that were strong like it used to be in the good old days. no place for the modern corner back eg like david henry. maybe its a definite sign of what we prefer to see. also everyone is biased so im not going to stop that

I did see all the kerry greats but I will pick a team not including any pre 1990 kerry players.
1)John O'Leary (sheer consistency at a high level)
2)Mark O'Se(an old school corner back, tough and tight, but great going forward too)
3)Darren Fay(patrolled the square like he owned it)
4)S M Lockhart(very constructive corner back, clever with the ball in his hand)
5)Martin O'Connell(could deliver the ball from the back expertly with either foot and read the game like a book)
6)Kieran McGeeny(the Beckenbauer of gaelic football great cool head and very constructive with the ball)
7)Seamus Moynahan(great attacking wing back and link player with the forwards)
8)Anthony Tohill(collussus in the midfield and like a freight train going forward)
9)Darragh O'Se(best midfielder since Jacko, enough said)
10)Trevor Giles(outstanding vision and brilliant ball distributor and well able take his own score)
11)Ciaran McDonald(can see a free man before anyone and distribution ability second to none)
12)Michael Donnellan(an engine like a BMW if he isnt getting the ball will go back to full back line and get it himself)
13)Maurice Fitzgearld(an artist, most skilful player ever to play the game, its all been said before)
14)Peter Canavan(consistently the most lethal forward in the game for about 7 years)
15)Colm Cooper(glides out of challenges and scores with ease, an assassin)

An obvious bias being shown again here for Ulster teams because I am most familiar with them. Every man on this list made huge contributions to All Ireland winning sides and it could not have been done without them. As much as I want to put bellew and joyce in there and McDermott from Meath , this is my best team from my old videos off the top of the head.

1. Neill Collins - Down
2. Darren Fay - Meath
3. Tony Scullion - Derry
4. Marc O Se - Kerry
5. Paul Curran - Dublin
6. Seamus Moynihan - Kerry
7. Sean Og de Paor - Galway

I can not believe I let Seamus Moynihan out, put him in my team and take out de Paor. I left Jack O Shea out but I only saw him at the very end of his career so it would not be right to include him on that alone

thats shane curran your thinking about lock jaw, my greatest memory of shane was bursting out onto the field in catslebar for a connnacht semi final, he put chabal (french cave man rugby dude) to shame, it was classic, band was in his way burst some dude holding a drum a shoulder on his way past (nothing bad in it the drummer was just in his way) well you would want to hear the cheer that went around mc hale park- classic stuff a legend and a nice guy too- it was him that was responsible for getting the kicking tees for keepers- a great development in the game. shane you are a legend

That's the buck surely. I remember once watching a league game against Ros in Ballybofey years ago. Donegal were up by 2 points with about a minute left. Curran caught a ball over his own bar and looked for a corner back to lay it off to. Seeing noone available what does the boy do? Heads off on a solo-run way out the pitch, Donegal men bouncing off him as he went. Next thing around the half way line he delivers this peach of a ball into the inside forward line. Ros get their goal and win by a point. Crazy stuff but it was some craic seeing!!

Must say I'm surprised that John McDermott is a popular choice for many people. Being 36, I've seen him play often enough and he's never impressed me that much. Good player alright but there's plenty better than him. I'm also surprised that Tompkins was excluded from many lists. That man was as close as you get to the complete footballer. Ah well, it's all about opinions I suppose. It was tough omitting so many of my favourite Dubs like Barney, Dully, Eamo, Whelo and Mick Kennedy but the head had to rule the heart on this one.
