Us. Never even been in an all-ireland senior final! Then again Fermanagh have never won an ulster.

28 September 1930 - All Ireland Final - Kerry 3-11 Monaghan 0-2

Altough not exactly something to be proud of!

John Maughan said, after he had lost another All-Ireland final with Mayo (I think it was 2004-possibly-I can't remember), that he was not so disappointed or frustrated because he had at least the opportunity to be involved in an All-Ireland final and many people did not get that opportunity. A great attitude. Have a lot of respect for him as result.

I'd have a lot of sympathy for the genuine cork football fans who travel to all the games and dont just jump on the bandwagon when the hurlers get knocked out. With kerry out of it this year i'd say they have a great chance and hope they go all the way

richiej - you know nothing about mayo football or our fans. i can guarantee it nobody in mayo believes we are going to win an all ireland every year. thats total rubbish. there may be a few lads in here trying to wind up other counties. but i can assure you mayo fans are not cocky. we have no right to be.

745515 ochonlir My logic does not alone transfer from sport to sport but it transfers into everyday life. In any walk of life the bigger the expectation the bigger the disappointment. ITS PURE COMMONSENSE.

please refer to my initial response!

no one in Roscommon would begrudge Mayo an allireland! the unluckies County for two decades.same with Galway and Limerick Hurlers along with Waterford and Monaghan!

think we were due an allireland with the late 70s / 80s team and eary 90s. early 00s prob were a small bit off it

Report of the 1930 all Ireland final Kerry V Monaghan( the more things change the more they stay the same)

The early part of the game gave no indication of the rout that has to follow, infact it was the lamentable Monaghan who raised the first flag. John Joe Landers equalised with a beautiful point a good few minutes later and up to this point there was exceptional end-to-end football.

But the great Moyvane man Brosnan kicked a pass to Ryan who tapped the ball between the posts and further points from Landers and Ryan gave Kerry the lead 0-4 to 0-1. Monaghan hit back with another point from McConnon, but that was the end of the hapless Monaghan's campaign.

Landers hit a glorious goal and after this there was simply no stopping the Kerrymen with further points from Sheehy and Landers Kerry went in at half time 1-6 to 0-2.

Kerry piled on the pressure in the second half and the laughable Monaghan had nothing to give in retaliation and it turned out to be the most one sided All-Ireland final ever Kerry easily winning 3-11 to 0-2. Sam was heading south again and once again monaghan had embarrased Ulster.

The 1930 All-Ireland Champions: Johnny Riordan, Dee O'Connor, Joe Barrett, Jack Walsh, Joe O`Sullivan, Tim O'Donnell, Con Brosnan, Bob Stack, Miko Doyle, Jackie Ryan, Eamon Fitzger, John Joe Landers, John Joe Sheehy (Captain), Ed (Pedlar) Sweeny.

Theres a lot of counties that could claim to be longest suffering. In recent times Mayo in football and hurling galway. But imagine the suffering of Mayo fans in 1925 when they had to hand over the All Ireland title to our dearest neighbours Galway.

Dublin,Mayo,Cork fans recently all won Provincial titles and dreams of All Ireland only to have it shattered by getting hammerings off Kerry/Tyrone
I think its almost harder for teams that get so close yet so far as they say rather than teams that never win anything but maybe get the odd shock win here and there

Being a Kildare fan hasn't been easy for the last 10 years. But we have it better than most. If I was in Mayo I would boycott football and take up Badminton or Morris Dancing. What they go through every year is 1 humiliation after another. They flatter to deceive, then usually fall into an all Ireland quarter final because of the apalling standard of the Connaught championship, then they are humiliated by any half decent team. Every Year is supposed to be " mayos year at lasht" but the truth is that they won't win an all ireland in our lifetime. I have a lot of friends from Mayo and I wouldn't be able to go through what they go through.

why does every thread have to include a pop at Connacht. Mayo do not fall into a qf every year daith. In the last 10 years 4 of 5 Connacht counties have won the provincial title.
