cant believe people rate Maurice fits some much....he played in an era dominated by the likes of canavan meath galway and dublin as well as all the northen suscess 91-94. He kicked one score, a magnificent score no doubt, but slow and needed it on a plate.

also players like jonny doyle tommy freeman maty forde would get near a kerry cork tyrone dublin panel never mind be concidered in the same breathe a brogan.

best forwards line of last 10 years. steven o'neill, mc donnell, Gooch, galvin, o'sullivan, dooher, cavanagh. Yeah mostly tyrone kerry but year all these players have player of the year awards and multiple alstars....bradely mulligan clarke get mentions but very hit and miss & just not good enough.

DUBS what have you won in 15 years?? nothin because not good enough but brogan could be the man if he doesnt choke given the physicality of the cork team!

Why oh why are Tyrone fans soooooo BEGRUDGING about any of the good Dublin players, Bernard Brogan included..... The thread is about Bernard and what a terrific player he IS......not about players choking in Croker on big occasions....God knows Tyrone choked for how many years before they ever WON an AI.....3 flippn titles and we never hear the end of it....Cmon the Dubs.....

An era dominated by Canavan!! Its clear you switched your tv off after the ulster championships were over and didnt watch any other games. Canavan was a great player back then no doubt, Maurice played his last game for Kerry by the time Canavan was winning his first AI. "One score", when did you start watching football, 2001 I'd guess? did you watch the 97 AI final, (oh wait you dont count AI victories if they're against Mayo) Fitz destroyed Mayo all on his own, scored 9 points (one from the ground with the left peg on the side line), won vodafone and texaco footballer of the year that year .

You saw him in 2001 banging an outrageous point over against Dublin and assume thats all he ever did, long after he had produced some of the finest displays for Kerry, in one of the worst periods of Kerry football. Those of us who watched him plug away tirelessly against Cork between 1988 and 1995 with little reward remember some of the finest performances in a Kerry jersey. In Mick O Dwyers book he told how he would always struggle to put a new young fella in to mark him in training, because his confidence would be in tatters after the roasting he'd get from Maurice.

Maurice Fitz is among the finest players to ever wear green and gold and that includes the Gooch.

Yeah actually forgot all about Joyce... Defo deserves a mention...

Lads Tommy Freeman on his day is unmarkable.... a scoring machine!

Although,It's actually very hard to compare one forward to another because every team is different..., Imagine Michael Meehan playing in the Kerry forward line?? No disrespect to Galway but they havnt been really sucessfull in the past few years. So with quality ball supplied in2 meehan, he wud run riot.

Agree Donegals Michael Murphy will be a top forward in the near future but is just not yet the finished article..

Somebody mentioned Peter Canavan.., he retired donkeys years ago!!!!!! Am discussing the best forwards at the moment.

im delighted people outside dublin are at last giving bernard praise at the start of the championship somebody posted a thread about what will light up the championship this year and i posted bernard brogan and i havent been dissapointed. as for people saying hes only done it in few games you are very wrong he was top scorer in the league would almost certtainly have won an all star but for dublin not making the all ireland semi final last year,he scores near enough 9 or 10points a match on average(im not an actual statician so dont shoot me if im a point or 2 out its an estimation).he also has 2 players if not 3 marking him at times like against armagh.over the last few years he has posted huge tallys in the dublin club championship especialy 2 years ago when he scored 11 points off paul griffin in the final and before u say that was a club match crokes went on to win the all ireland that year so were the strongest club in the country.im not going to comment on other players as the topic is how good is bernard brogan and you cant realy compare players from year to year just that this year he has been the best forward in the country and well the treble could be on .treble= bernard to finish top scorer, win player of the year and plunketts to win dublin championship paddy power are sweating haha

What I like about him is he's a very honest, hard-working player. He's got all the talent in the world too. Hard-work and talent is the makings of an unbelieveable player.
