How Good Is Bernard Brogan??

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Gooch is still a cut above the rest but bernard is on par with all the other sublime forwards in the game

brogan is good. and he's having an excellent year. but one good championship does not make you one of the best. id still have johnny doyle anyday. 7 or 8 years he's consistently done it for kildare. brogan has a long way to go to match the likes of the gooch, mcdonnel, meehan and doyle. the dubs are blowing him up, like they usually do when they win one big match

I have been impressed with Bernard Brogan over the past couple of years, He can score with right or left, is quick and strong and has the ability to create space for himself, all in all a top forward.

Relax there Monky, he was only stating a point. Give Brogan a few years and then we'll see, there is hope for him alright but let him prove it against Cork and then again over the next few years consistently.

What about Micheal Murphy, loads of potential if he had a few players around him.

Good enough player but will never be a top player IMO.

Would have to agree, give or take the odd player thats about right. Meehan on his day is as unmarkable as you get. Depending on how Brogan sees the year out he could be up at 2. It'll take a few years and performances against the big teams to hit the first category. But he's looking very good for now.

Gooch is so over rated its not funny anymore, he needs Donaghy to serve everything to him on a plate.

Bernard is a total footballer, he has every skill honed to perfection.

Gooch is the best forward since maurice fitz. He's unreal in club football aswell.

I take it you didnt watch the Down game properly. Im guessing it was the the dummy solos, the cross over hops and changing of the feet had redfoot too dazzled to notice the couple of absolute scorching heat seeker passes the Gooch put into Donaghy, one taking out almost 5 players. It was the highlight of an otherwise very poor Kerry performance. In Cork that sort of pass is a foul, beacause its considered Too accurate.
Cork people hate the Gooch. As a county ye are alone my friend. I know you'll never admit it but ye'd swap all 6 of yere forwards for a player like the Gooch. Worse still theres years left in him.

Anyone on here saying that the gooch is not that good is living in a dream land, the lad is an amazing footballer. He is wthout a doubt the most skillfull footballer presently playing football and maybe the most skillfull ever.He is an absolute joy to watch, passing, shooting taking on men and beating them with ease, awareness the lad has almost everything,he has 2 weaknesses and they are his strength and winning his own ball.
You can say that the lad is useless all you want but the fact of the matter is he isn't.

Also Who in there right mind would have Tommy Freeman up there, he isnt even the best forward in Monaghan.

Bernard though is no where near Goochs level, when he has been around a few years and teams have figured him out that will prove his real worth, look at Gooch teams have him figured out but they cant do anything about him.

743922 Jafallon,
Two good years? this year and what other year?

He has shown potential before but this is the first year he has proven he can mix it with top opposition

He was excellent last year. Dublin couldnt win a kickout against Kerry last year so you can't blame him for that performance. Remember his performance against Kildare last year? Would you consider them to be "top opposition" now that they are semi finalists?

744056 Dont think he is in the same class as Copper cause bernard brogan is a honest, hard working player. Copper is a very good footballer but his diving has turned me off him. It has no place in Gaelic football. Last year in the All Ireland final he was wrapped in Cotton wool. He continued this into the 2010 championship cause he now realizes that he can get away with it. And before any of you think its just a Cork/Kerry thing by me making this statement its far from it. My statement is based on facts. If anyone argues then your obviously oblivious to what goes on.

As for Bernard Brogan - He has all the attributes to be a top player but he is still learning and i reckon the best is yet to come. This of course can only be good for Dublin.

Don't sit on the fence say what you really feel about the Gooch

I sure will cause im basing it on facts. No doubt he is full of skill and a real talent at Gaelic football but . I way prefer galvin as a player.

Brogan will be a fantastic player I'm sure but its still very early in his career.

If you say gooch is over rated you have serious serious issues he is unbelievable he's up there with maurice fitz.

Freeman isnt even close and why hasnt joyce or canavan been mentioned? j doyle shouldnt be denied any plaudits either, absolute class act.

Marty Clarke will go on to be an outstanding player he's an incredible talent was a joy to watch him and brogan in croker on same day.

if dublin win the all ireland this year it will be similar to argentina winning the world cup in 1986, winning with one brilliant player and the rest really only good to average.

To have Michael Meehan on the same line as Colm Cooper is ridiculous, Meehan is great on his day has never been consistent. Cooper is a class above imo and mr reliable.

I think Bernard brogan has been outstanding this yr, he is ruthless, accurate and delivers when the pressure is at his highest, a close second to Cooper at this current time.
