How Good Is Bernard Brogan??

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Out of the forwards mentioned in the OP, Brogan is much better than Mulligan or Clarke. He has had 2 good years now, so that put's him ahead of Stephen O'Neill on one. He has a bit of a way to go to be as good as McDonnell or Cooper, but it looks as if he has the potential.

Jafallon,
Two good years? this year and what other year?

He has shown potential before but this is the first year he has proven he can mix it with top opposition

I think he was talking about Terry O'Neill from Antrim rather than Pearse...

Love it.

Terry? He is another McCullough, Penrose, Brian McGuigan, etc, useful defender but not so good as a forward.

Here, can you remember Stephen O'Neill from Tyrone? Now he was a player, but a few years ago.

Oh is that the fella that kicked about 20 wides against Antrim in Casement one day and was substituted? Couldn't have been that good then.......

Bernard has also had a couple of bad injuries in his short time as a Dublin player...

To get over them as he has and be playing at such a high level at his age is a complete credit to the man.

Injuries have stuttered his progress but he is still young and his work rate in getting to the ball and holding it up is a key element of the Dubs new strategy.

Alan....well....is Alan a sort of side show when feed the ball they way he likes it.

And there ae still two more Brogans to come.....

James and Paul Brogan
Paul in particular is a class act but has sufferes TWO cruciate ligament injuries in 3 years. Wing back. Sheer class. A brother of the 2 boys.
James is a cousin. Just as hard working but more of a Paul Flynn than an Alan Brogan

James has had his fair share on injuries too.

Dont think he is in the same class as Copper cause bernard brogan is a honest, hard working player. Not like Copper who antics are seen so often
on a soccer field. Copper is a very good footballer but his diving has turned me off him. It has no place in Gaelic football. Last year in the All Ireland final he was wrapped in Cotton wool. It was actually disgusting to watch the amount of handy frees he won. He continued this into the 2010 championship cause he now realizes that he can get away with it. And before any of you think its just a Cork/Kerry thing by me making this statement its far from it. My statement is based on facts. If anyone argues then your obviously oblivious to what goes on.

As for Bernard Brogan - He has all the attributes to be a top player but he is still learning and i reckon the best is yet to come. This of course can only be good for Dublin.

He's a class act in fairness and has really come to prominence this year. What age of a fella is he?

Don't sit on the fence say what you really feel about the Gooch

Brogan is brilliant on his day but was kept very quiet in 2 games in this years championship. Poor against Meath and against Louth. As for other forwards, only the gooch can be classed as a true great. McDonnell,is probably the next best over the last number of years but not to same standard as the gooch. After that you would have Clarke, O'Neill, Declan O'Sullivan, Meehan, Bradley, Freeman, Forde, Doyle to name a few. Bernard Brogan would currently be among this group although has the potential to be better
