Tipperary - Greatest hurling county of all time?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Technically incorrect as the club champions represented the county in the all-ireland championship initially so really thurles where the first club winners!!! I thought you'd have pointed that out being a thurles man!!
HAG_AND_CHEESE , 12/08/2010 at 19:15

you are wrong again hags Roscrea won the first all ireland club championship as I said that was in 1971 Thurles blues won the first intercounty all ireland representing tipp against Galway winning by 1-1 to 0-0 so you dont know anything after all hags now do you?

Really the first club to with an all-ireland final was thurles.... the club championship was a kinda revamp of the initial championship.... Roscrea were tipperary champions in 1971 thurles were tipperary champions in 1887....

Thus roscrea were not the first club to win an all-ireland.

also the score was 1-1-1 to 0-0-0 thats 1 goal 1 point and 1 forfeited point, the latter would be the score given for what would be a 65 these days.... if you going to slag someone off about knowing nothing make sure you get the facts right yourself.

Surely you could be out training a team, with your vast hurling knowledge they would be unstoppable.

Galway and Offaly are more successful than tipp in modern times. The invention of the helmet ended Tipps dominence in the 60s. No longer could they hack their way to victory.

Actually it was Tipp who were hacked by all the othe hatchet counties in the 60s redfoot get your facts right
Kilkenny and Wexford and Cork had plenty of hatchet men around at the time to stop that skillful Tipp team who if they had helmets back then would probably have won 3 04 4 more all irelands in the 60s only for the dirty punishment they received from those other teams. You havent a clue my man. Not a clue!

All you have to do is look at Jimmy Doyles neck and legs to see the marks left from belts when Kilkenny Cork and Wexford teams were breaking hurleys across him
pity helmets werent around in the 60s as that greatest team of all time would have won a lot more All Irelands so dont talk rubbish redfoot as your own beloved county have had plenty of hatchet men down through the years and even now as you can include Cadogan in there!!

I might be from Kerry but I didnt realise they made helmets for the legs? Thats amazing you would have thought they'd patent that.

What a load of self indulgent tripe. The over inflated egos of certain Tipp people tarnish their county. The efforts some people will go to in order to try and take the gloss of Kilkenny.
