Omaghredhand, what exactly happened that night? I remember well the incident but have forgot the detail or maybe Im mixing it up with another incident.I thought that Martin did't let them in or something, knowing what they were trying to get up to,essentially sacrificing himself.

intresting, we have a very similar taste in music. I thought I was the only one to have Dropkick Murphy's on my i-pod!
Also have alot of Jimi Hendrix, RHCP, REM, The Cranberries and Led Zepplin!

Seanie, there was a republican function on upstairs in the Widow Scallans pub, when two loyalist(British) gunmen tried to storm the place with guns and bombs. Doco intercepted them and drove them back on to the street. As he was struggling with them he was shot and fatally wounded. As the song says, he stopped an absolute massacre and so many people owe their lives to him. Another doorman was also injured. The bomb was left on the street and failed to detonate properly. Selfless, brave and true.

Wish You Were Here is perhaps the worst song ever in my opinion! :) Drippy sentimental rubbish. Even worse when somebody starts singing it at a party. It, redemption song and wonderwall have been ruined by karaoke guitar legends.

Worst song ever, ah now Breffni come on you don't have to like it but worst ever?? what about 'mmmbop', 'Never Gonna Give You Up', 'I Want It That Way', 'Year 3000' etc etc surely they're all a little bit worse. Granted it certaily isn't a party song and id never put it on, more of a C'est La Vie or My Sharona man at parties Bref.

I think you have let ur dislike of karaoke fiends get the better of ur judgement breffni. I wouldnt have it as my no.1 but it is a decent song, to say it is too sentimental is unfair, couldnt you apply that to all songs, by just changing the feeling it provokes? I agree with you on the karaoke bit, nothing worse than someone trying to look 'deep' by singing a song like that, usually with their eyes closed, and the cord of the mic wrapped around their hand. 'Boooo'
Surprised paolo nutini made so many lists?
