Im surprised Croke park are allowed to install this fencing, that the health and safety authorities dont have a problem with it!

Correct decision.

For Louth games, could a special part of the ground be open to them only and have that particular section fenced in too?

typical of the gaa.. if dublin wer to win the all ireland they won let a 2.8 meter fence stop them.. anyone can climb a fence and with thousands of people on the hill going mental to get over it there will be someone seriously hurt.. if its not broke dont fix it.. the louth game was a freak accident in fairness to louth people if the ref hadn made that bad decision there wouldn of been any problems.. its the people who are suffering because of a referees mistake!

Taken from the wikipedia article on the hillsborough disaster. "The result was that an influx of many thousands of fans through a narrow tunnel at the rear of the terrace, and into the two already overcrowded central pens, caused a huge crush at the front of the terrace, where people were being pressed up against the fencing by the weight of the crowd behind them." People should just boycott the hill unless they want to die. I know il never buy a ticket for it again

If you want to know "How NOT to do things" just head for Ireland. If the irish had brains they wouldn't even be dangerous. lol.

It's certainly difficult to understand that we would pen in supporters in the only terrace in the ground and potentially the most dangerous area.

As far as I'm aware supporters decend onto the pitch from all directions so why take this measure on the hill?? Are the people on the hill less desirable? It's madness in my view.

When, Limerick ever win an All Ireland i know a fence would'nt keep me! Specially in a year like this in Football where it's likely that a team that wouldn't of won previous years, has a great chance being champions... You can't keep fans like that from celebrating!
Dangerous...

If supporters dont obey the rules of Croke park this is what has to be done ,its not celebrating to invade the pitch it is hooliganism.

If Carlow won an All-Ireland they'd be able to hitch a ride on a flying pig and sail right over the fence

What do people expect?

If you have wild cattle you make sure there's an electric fence up.

Similarly when you are dealing with an unruly race you also have to take measures to quieten them.

Well here we go, another Hillsborough or Heysel waiting to happen. What happens if the Dubs beat Cork and make it to an All Irl. final. I wouldent like to be near the front of this monstrous fence if a crush starts. The Gaa people all over this country built this stadium so they have every right to grace its sacred sod. It is our stadium. So No fences in Croke Park!!!!!!

As Gandalf's extract from Wikipedia points out, the other disasters happened as a result of over-crowding (i.e. too many bodies in the one place). Provided Croke Park don't over-capacitate the Hill, then I don't see how anybody will be crushed. It'd take some persistent pressing from persons at the back to cause even anything remotely close to a crush. And with steps/barriers also in the way, even that is quite hard to imagine. Basically, the only way a serious injury will be incurred is if a lot maniacs get on the grounds. Said maniacs would then also need to actually want to cause harm, in which case a lot of the blame would have to lay at the door of those people.

Why not just put a fence around Meath& Louth. That would solve it
