Classic/Retro Adverts

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I saw a Milky Bar advert on the tele last night which is where this thought patter is coming from. Over recent years I could not tell you what adds are on the Tele frequently or what the main products being sold are. Presume that multi channel/ Remote control/ Sky Plus etc has diminshed to power of TV adverts but anyway
it would seem to me that TV Aderts in th eighties were a lot more effective - I admit they were annoying but most of them had very catchy themes
In particular the ones used for Chocolate/Soft Drinks/Detergent and Cleaning products cereals
Just a few that come to mind

The Milky Bar Kid just can't go wrong
Bounty hunters are we seaching for Paradise
Catch it if you can on the outside is chocalate and underneath the choclare are Crispies
A Mars a day helps you work rest and play
Hands that do dishes can be soft as your face with mild green fairly liquid
Thank Crunchie its Friday
The outright winegar with Tayto salt and Vinegar
Do the Shake and Vac and put the freshenerss back
Mr Muscle cleans so clean you can really see yourself
Kimberly, Mikado and Coconut creams someone you love with lots of ...
Lilt with the totally tropical taste
Let the Gib O flow Club Orange
bring me apples bring me honey bring me hazlenuts bring me wheat .... kellogs Country store

All crap but catchy - IMO they were better than the more modern approach

Not exactly retro but one that is bound to become a classic in time.

Remember the kitkat ad with God and and the Devil in the lift? Or the Petit Filous ad that was set in the middle ages with the servant tasting the petit filous "you wouldn't like it" and gives him an apple "well it wont kill ya!" Quality.

Well I didn't have privilege of the university education and the guaranteed gilt edged path to boardroom dominance that you constantly claim to enjoy.

So until such time as you give some of us a job sweeping your chimney and manicuring your tree lined avenue - you may just have to make do with these tedious threads that are clearly beneath you.

If you would be gracious enough to give me a three month stint as tea-boy well perhaps I could get around to devising a thread along the lines suggested.

Leave Pomeroy alone. He only asked a question!

So what is your favourite biscuit?
