Ireland is and always has been united. We should not let an imaginary line drawn on a map by foreigners make us feel disjointed. Our culture our heritage and our land is one and shall remain so until kingdom come. I have noticed in my travels that even those who pretend not to be Irish while in Ireland have no delusions about their nationality when abroad. It is time for all us Irish to just let the political problems solve themselves unforced.

You would think that someone from the West especially Mayo which suffered dreadfully at the hands of British colonialism would have a sense of identity and understanding of Irish unity. I cannot fathom the deep bitter Blueshirt partitionist mentality that prevails in Mayo.

Of course if you disagree with certain posters on this site you are branded an 'idiot'. Their arrogance knows no bounds

Is Arrogance not your middle name PP? I just hope your lot on the media/Byzantine studies courses just leave the decent hardworking people alone in South Belfast alone when you come back off your farms in the next few weeks.

What are you suggesting Ulsterman? That my Women Studies with Parapsychology degree won't be of any use when I enter full-time employment?

The above gave me a good chuckle, the people who complain loudest are those who don't even go to the simple effort of voting. Those who don't vote can't complain in my books. I've come back from abroad more than once to vote. We spent hundreds of years getting our democratic voice heard, I'm not going to dishonour those patriots that went before me by not using my vote.

I didn't vote in the last election, I spoilt my vote. Simply put there was not a single candidate that I felt deserved my vote. Does this mean I can't have an opinion?

Ah pomeroy, I'm not sure what impression you're under but spoiling your vote is still voting...

Failure to vote only helps those who's policies you are most in disagreement with. The ability to vote is a very precious right to be utilized.
