It'll be Cork or Dublin. I have a slight fancy for Cork. Dublin will not be easy. Kildare or Down will be a massive test also.

I think Cork should beat Dublin, as they obviously have the gameplan to beat Tyrone, and Dublin play a similar type of game....Cork have been in 2 of the last 3 All-Ireland finals so that experience should count for something and I think the Cork players will seize the chance of tasting All-Ireland success at last, now that their arch nemesis have fallen by the wayside

Whilst I would argue that Down have clearly the more talented footballers I think Cork will win on sheer strength , speed and probably a bit more belief.

Kildare reminds me of a banana for when you peel it back there is just a soft core which can be gobbled up very quickly and this is going to happen them!

4 All Irelands all won in the dark ages? There are not many counties that are smaller or weaker than Kildare. People are entitled to their opinion regardless of where they are from

Dubs and Cork would never shut up about it, Down are from Ulster (even though it'd be nice for Kerry to at least say that the All-Ireland champions have to beat us to get there)
Hopefully Kildare though - lived there for a while, lovely girls everywhere!!!

I like this analogy of relating Kildare to the banana skin. We all know that a person slipping on a banana peel has been a staple of physical comedy for generations.

Now wouldn't this spice up Kildare's semi-final if the RTE commentator would describe the live match something like this...

....now a Kildare player's foot has hit a banana peel and I went up in the air, and I come down ker-plunk, jist as he was pickin' himself up, the Down captain has come runnin' across the pitch... saying, "Oh mister, won't you please do that agin? My team-mates just love it!"

Well wolf, if Im not right in the head, how come RTE have just emailed me back saying that they liked the quote and may put it up on their web site?

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Aye, the only ones that will be looking a hobby will be Kildare when they will get the boot. Talking of hobbies maybe hobby-horses would be their thing!

I see our Galway's Gearoid O Conamha has been tipped to get the nod to officiate at his first All-Ireland final which acknowledges the quaility and fairness of referees from our county.

I see also that referees have been appointed for the All-Ireland SFC semi-finals. Laois man Deegan will take charge of the Dublin v Cork clash on August 22, while Monaghan's McEnaney will referee the Down v Kildare semi-final a week later. The double appointment would appear to rule both out of contention for the final, as traditionally neither of the semi-final referees are appointed for the Sam Maguire Cup decider.
