Can't believe I'm only the second to mention him

Donie Shine

A giant among mere sportsmen

For a player who's defined this year so far, there's no throw like a Joe throw

The Gooch has been top class for Kerry this year... When the pressure was on he delivered. He sees things where others wouldnt contemplate looking. Also works to bring so many of the other Kerry players into the game and when he gets the ball he rarely loses possession. Best football brain in the country by a mile.

You can't be serious who have they played Kildare,Westmeath and Meath
Myself a meathman deems the meath team very poor and you couldnt put us away controversy or no controversyFULL STOP
And then Dublin put you away finally!

Oh and whoever you're english teacher is she should'nt be teaching!

Class, even though this has been pointed out twice already

Cathal Cregg this year has been immense, along with Donie Shine!!!

Graham O'Reilly, Mcmahon and Galvin 4 Limerick have been excellent

Gooch is in and around the 10 stone mark so fairly light by intercounty standards these days!!

The talks of J.Galvin or P.Joyce for a player of the year so far are fairly crazy. They won nothing. In championship 2010 Galvin has beaten Waterford and P.Joyce has beaten the might of New York. Hardly outstanding when you consider the Tyrone stars have lead their teams to victory over Antrim, Down and Monaghan while the Kerry ones have lead to victories over Cork and Limerick.

What exactly are you trying to say? That Rory Woods is the player of the year?

you seem to have mistaken this for a team of the year thread.

twisted menace can you honestly not see why people mention these players. They were their countys main performers and were the players that managed to keep games tight. John galvin is possibly the best midfielder in the country at the moment. Id have dermot earley as his competition. I know the kerry and tyrone people will disagree but thats mine and alot of other opinions. Padraig joyce is a legend and a true great it in gaelic. what age is he? and yet he is still one of connachts best forward. again there are others but he is extremely important to that galway team. As a donegal person I can honestly say both them players would walk in and be our best players. somebody like joyce would really take the heat off murphy

But to be considered as player of the year so far surely the players would need to have lead their team to significant victories because it is in those games where you see greatness. In the high intensity high stakes game. I would agree that Joyce is a fine footballer but Galway beat just New York in what was possibly one of the poorest Connaught championships in years. Likewise with Galvin who is an excellent midfielder. Limerick have been playing a higher caliber of opponent in Kerry and Cork but have lost to both. They have just managed to beat waterford this year. Paddy Keenan on the other hand has had an excellent championship so far and has lead his county to significant victories over Kildare (and you could say Meath).

There is no doubt that all the players mentioned are excellent but its abit crazy to talk about some of them as possibles for players of the year so far when other players have played excellently and achieved significant victories.

Is Reilly eligible for young player of the year? Because he'll no doubt get that
