mesamis is spot on, its jealousy of success as he said as well as the hearthy contribution made by their own fans that has led to a so-called obsession. and in fairness to tyrone fans they've every right to be "slightly larger than life" for the want of a better expression because they have earned it on the field. a few other counties, my own included recieve attention even when things are not going so well but tyrones will probably last as long as their team continues to win. id expect the "obsession" to diminish soon after if the success ended. but if my own cant raise the bar long may it continue as no-one bar kerry wants to see kerry win it every year. and if they were honest kerry probably wouldnt want to themselves...where exactly would that leave the game.

719785 Tyrone are a great team and certain other counties namely Kerry don't like the fact that this tyrone team have proven themselves to be the better side than the present Great kerry side. Numbers of all Irelands aside Tyrone have anhiliated kerry
Now you know why so many dislike Tyrone, not me I hasten to add, I realise Tyrone fans are jealous of Antrim's long and illustrious history in ALL matters GAA.
But ANNIHILIATED Kerry?
Certainly in 2003v they took full advantage of Kerry's shock trauma, induced by the first sight of 15 men behind the ball at all times.
In 2005 Tyrone were the better side in what I thought was a wonderful final, making up for 2003. If it had been a cake walk, I don't think it would have been so wonderful.
In 2008, well in a close analysis with a fair minded person you could point out that McConnell saved Tyrone, after they benefited from a scrappy goal after O'Neill miskicked the ball.
But it was nip and tuck until the last few minutes when Kerry gave up the ghost and got caught.
I enjoyed those games. Annihilation's are usually hurling matches featuring Tyrone's true gaels.

To start with, please ensure that your facts are correct. That is not my post my friend. Indeed if you actually took time to read my post I stated that Kerry folk tend not to criticise Tyrone depsite our rcent history and that this was "class".
As regards 2003, as far as I remember, we had them beaten out the gate at half time. Wasn't it 0-6 to 0-1 or so at one point. You'd wonder how you would take a lead like that with 15 men behind the ball. Also if youget a chance watch the game again and you will see that Kerry handed out as much physical stuff as Tyrone. Yes McConnell mad a good save when Kerry were 2 points behind but in the end the game is for 70 mins and Kerry know that well enough. I think that Antrim being the hurling superstars of Ulster that they are have taken some delightful hammeings as well me boy. Below is the championship history between Cork and Antrim. A few corkers, pardon the pun
2004 - Cork 2-26 Antrim 0-10 (All-Ireland quarter-final)
1990 - Cork 2-20 Antrim 1-13 (All-Ireland semi-final)
1986 - Cork 7-11 Antrim 1-24 (All-Ireland semi-final)
1984 - Cork 3-26 Antrim 2-5 (All-Ireland semi-final)
1947 - Cork 7-10 Antrim 0-5 (All-Ireland semi-final)
1943 - Cork 5-16 Antrim 0-4 (All-Ireland final)
1904 - Cork 4-18 Antrim 2-3 (All-Ireland semi-final)

ANNIHILIATED Kerry
in the context of the head to heads and that Tyrone beat kerry each time that word hold true but it was a bit tongue in cheek
why are supporters that have had so much success so sensitive about EVERYTHING

every two weeks these kind of threads come around or thread started on something else ends up turning into southern vs northern thing, same argument, same crap time and time again, for the record I like Tyrone. and appreciate everything they've done..why there's a need to set up a thread I don't know...this forum is fairly ridiculous most of the time.

Patrique, Omaghredhand's post was a direct quote from Ochonlir from Cavan in which he highlighted in bold Ochonlir's point "so expect criticism from Kerry fans". He then went on to say that Kerry lads he finds are the least critical of Tyrone. A sentiment I would echo from talking to them on a regular basis, and I'm not talking about Hoganstand.
I suggest you take off your blinkers Patrique and have a look around! Anyone who read the page would have seen this but I suggest you were too eager to put down a Tyrone supporter and this blinded you to the facts. It sounds very familiar to me!!!

It wasn't meant to be a dig at you Ochonlir, that was your opinion and you are entitled to express it.
I was just getting a bit tired of an old dinosaur like Patrique sticking his bias oar into all things Tyrone. But sure isn't that what he is looking for, seeking attention by belittling fellow Gael's. Good man Patrique you have got another poster to bite, I hope you are proud of yourself!

i know it wasn't
I can't get over how easily you Tyrone supportes get wound up
you have the greatest team I've seen better, in my view, than the 70/80 kerry team or the present team even though they won more (i know that sounds a bit silly)
enjoy them take pleasure from the detractors

Now I note in yesterdays paper there was a photo of Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie going into a hotel.
I went into a hotel the day before as well. Why no photo of me?
That parable explains why there are so many threads about Tuyrone. They are famous and successful.
Note there are very, very, very few threads on hurling about Tyrone.
I hope this is helpful. You can now stop being paranoid as that IS an obsession.
Very few threads on hurling never mind Tyrone hurling- at the end of the day hurling is a minority sport

Glad someone got the point I was making, and from Tyrone!!! I am impressed.
Hopefully you too have realised how few threads there are about Leitrim/New York or Antrim winning Liam or Sam.

This has been a common occurrence recently, where Omagh starts talking about Antrim hurling in the middle of threads and then says it was me. There are other examples.
I bring this to your attention dear readers because either Omagh WANTS to be me, or he THINKS he is me. This is worrying but please try not to be confused.

I do not agree that there exists an unhealthy obsession or hatred toward Tyrone ....
Well not outside HS anyway.
Most people have a healthy respect for Tyrone - and as for HS posters - 90% of them are twits anyway.
I'm a seldom contributor but do read these pages frequently and It's not hard to see who falls into which category.
A lot of people on here need to take a good hard look at themselves !

Patrique, read over the whole thread again. What you believe was posted by Omaghredhand was posted by this annoying fella "ochonlir" from Cavan. At least half of ochonlir's posts on this site have been swipes aimed at Kerry, while hiding behind Tyrone. Another fella that's hanging onto Tyrone's coat tails to rile Kerry people, just like brendtheredhand slated Ulsterman for a couple of days ago in a hurling thread. ochonlir's trying to get a rise out of us, and in fairness to the majority of Kerry posters on here, none of them have taken the bait. The reason they haven't might have something to do with what Omaghredhand actually did post Patrique, that there's a certain "class" about them. Sorry for blowing our own trumpet! We're not a modest bunch at the best of times! :)
PS. To all the Tyrone and Kerry posters out there - do ye ever notice that the vast majority of anti-Kerry and anti-Tyrone threads and posts on Hoganstand are not posted by Tyrone or Kerry posters, but actually "outsiders"?

Old man, I think that the glasses are failing or else senile dementia is creeping up on you. I did not, repeat just in case did not post the initial comment. My reference initially arose due to a completely ambiguous post by yourself that inferred that you were talking about Antrim hurling when in fact you were not. (apparently)
As for wanting or thinking that I am your good self, please, I have a little more self respect than that. I also have more faith in most of the HS clan to assume that they can decipher between your incoherent ramblings and my intelligent, witty and articulate posts

OK I admit it Omagh. Tyrone have a wonderful history.
I will even reproduce their Ulster final appearances in the first 75 years of that glorious history to prove the point.
1890: Armagh 2-8 1-2 Tyrone
43 years later
1933 Cavan 6-13 1-2 Tyrone (FOOTBALL final)
1941 Cavan 3-9 0-5 Tyrone (also FOOTBALL)
Sorry, that's it.
But in hurling in 125 years Tyrone have.....................
Omagh, are you sure you want to go down this road. Like Cork 5-10 2-4 Tyrone in a FOOTBALL semi in 1973? Last year anyone? If I was from Tyrone I would steer well clear of matters concerning Cork.
OK fair's fair, I will now list Tyrone's hurling semi final record.
Wasn't that impressive.
Tee hee.
