Club Championship!!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Division 1: Completely open championship, Dromore are rightly favourites to recapture their title but carrickmore are not dead and gone and i believe will be their biggest challange. Coalisland have another year under their belts and will have gained a lot of experience from last year

Winners: Dromore

Watch out for: Carrickmore & Coalisland

Division 2: The intermediate championship is the strongest it has ever been with a few big clubs finding themselves there. Moy are red hot favourites and who can argue?? They have 4 county stars as well as drafting in the services of Peter Loughran to help their cause. Trillick and Clann na geal will offer the biggest challanges especially now that stephen o'neill has decided to focus on his club football

Winners: Moy

Watch Out for: Trillick & Clann na Gael

Division 3: Again a strong junior championship with the new league systems, Augher and strabane have been tipped among the favourites for this crown but it is wide open. Teams like errigal 111s who are rumoured to have 1 or 2 big names lining out this season for them or derry tresk with their transfers brought in.

Winners: U tell me

Any views? i would be keen to hear views on senior and intermediate championship

If Dromore had won the championship 2-3 years ago you might have suggested that they got the title just in time before War lords like Colm Connelly snr stepped down. In the event Dromore won last year with a very young team and with a few faces returning who missed the championship last year the side is arguably stronger. Add to that the confidence of knowing that it is possible to win the championship ( "nearly men no more" (O'Neill, 2007) ) and the 4 county panelists and a favourites tag for 2008 is not unreasonable. On the day any division 1 team is capable of turning over another for the championship but although Carrickmore will of course be there and Coalisland/Errigal - I do have a fear of Omagh. The McMahons and McCarron are significant players who are should they progress be playing championship games on their home ground. What do Omagh people think- are you contendors in 2008? Is there sufficient depth beyond your county players?

Gortin aren't in Division 1 this year. Prehaps you would need to revise your predictions ;)

Gortin lost to Pomeroy because they where more interested in the opposition players rather than the ball.
Gortin will be dark horses this year in Division 2.

Was at the matches in Carrickmore last night and Clonoe looked by far the best team on show. Defensively they were superb and in midfield they were great also. Up front needed bit more composure and they would have hammered Errigal who looked a bit in shock of the intensity and speed which the rahillys were playing at.

Donaghmore accounted for what was one of the worst championship performances I've seen in years in the form of Killyclogher. As the old saying goes you can only beat what's put in front of you but I think without McGinn Donaghmore won't be a serious contender for the championship.

I expect the big contenders to be Carrickmore, Dromore, Coalisland and Clonoe. From a local point of view I'd love a Fianna and Rahilly final.

Went to Dungannon last night to watch Moy vs Moortown and Coalisland vs Killyman. Allthough both the favourites won both teams will have to improve a lot if there are to beat the better teams in their championship run. Moy were lucky to beat moortown coming from 3 points down in the second half. It was a good second half from the Moy but that performance would not beat clann na gael or trillick. Coalisland did not have it all their own way either only for a horrible goal keeper mistake killyman were only 1 point behind. Peter Mc Gahan was brilliant for killyman he is a good player first time ive seen him play. Both teams will need to lift their performance if they are to progress!!!

ANY THOUGHTS???

Is No-one Here Thinking Kildress Have A Chance? They Were The Only Team To Even Challenge Dromore Last Year And In fact Were Very Lucky To Be Beaten! They Were Poor AGainst Galbally But Still Came Strong When They Were Needed! Fran Loughran Not Being On The Tyrone Senior Taeam Is A DISGRACE! and With The Likes Of Des Tracey, Martin Grimes, damian Kelly, Frank Mc Gurk Paul O Neill And Micky Lennon They Have Plenty Of Options For Scorers!

Is gormley the lad blind, or stupid. Mark donnelly hardly touched the ball! Magee and donnelly cancelled each other out. Kieran McKeever, a derry man, was the best player for carmen, even tho he was wasteful at times!!!!! Wee dan was reliable as ever, paul daly was good, wee martin was also good!!!!! Carmen are going to be hard to beat, they just seem to wear other teams out..

By the way, what donal ward at in the first half, dropping the ball as if it was out, even tho he was about 15 yards in the field! Made me laugh!!!

Have to say, you can blab on about Kildress and their "great" players, but if they hit full force, I will be petrified of that Ardboe forward line. The 3 mcguigans, Kyle Coney and a fit Nishy? Thats 5 top players, and proven players too. Add McConville and they are very strong. The good point, they very rarely have all fit, and sometimes blow hot and cold.
