Omar.d don't mind him i had him down as a kid too... since most of his arguements center along the lines of young arrogant tipp supporters point in arguements namely 25 all-irelands.

Omar,

A couple of very well written contributions, as ive said on another thread, unfortunately up north we're used to that kind of attitude. Now whether thats because we've a large spud on our shoulders and can be a bit over sensitive im not sure. However, these attitudes seem to be quite prevalent among the hurling 'elite', albeit maybe more so with the scoody doo brigade!!

"Ye haven't won more football AIs than Cavan actually. If you keep going like you are Tipp could well be the new Mayo on here. "

I'm afraid so.... think we were doing well to dispell the arrogance associated with tipp supporters.... but this lad has weighted in with his opinions you'd find in a school yard!

If you have indeed played to the level you claim then you should be fairly knowledgeable in the game.... sorry lad that dosen't come across well with the shoulda coulda woulda's.....

You claim to have seen Tipp win four AI's from their 25
You are talking about Senior Hurling by using the number 25
Last four are 01,91,89 and 1971 - prior to that was 1965
so the youngest you can possibly be is 38
Although you could have missed a game or been too young in which case you are in your mid forties or older.

I did indeed... there's all-ireland medals in the family, but unfortunately i was one of these lads that went off the rails and didn't have the commitment for the game.... used to make excuses but looking back I was an ould upstart and was fond of shoving the 25 all-irelands in peoples faces back then too, actually it would have bee 24 back around then.

well seeing all that hag I shouldnt have to explain to you why the team of 60s was better you should already know why they were the best of all time!

If the tipp team of the 60's played the kilkenny team they be beaten for fitness and sheer size also the tipp full back line would probably be sent off in the first 15 minutes.... it's just the way the game was played back then, also the that tipp team would have got a 5 in row only for waterford was there only loss in 4 years.... well when the last time this kilkenny team has lost a championship match also they have played more games without loss i would think??

your argument doesnt stand up hags that Tipp team if they were in thie era would be training at the same level as teams now and would match them in fitness and skill and they would have the same supports available to them as modern day players. It looks like you never saw Jimmy Doyle playing would you not rate him as one of the best in any era? Do you think that he would not be fit enough in the modern game. All the other teams at the time were the same but they could still adapt to modern training techniques in this era if they had to as hurling is a simple game hags. Tipp had the players and skill levels to adapt to any era.

I disagree with Hags and Kindomfan about hurling skills being better now than in the 60s and 70s. I actually think that certain skills are gone ,nobody seems to be able to pull on a ball on the ground anymore they prefer to try and rise the ball and let rucks of 6 to 7 plkayers develop leading to throw ins what is skillful about that? Are they not able to hit the ball on the ground? I saw a clip of Jimmy Doyle in an all ireland final against wexford the Tipp goalie pucked out the ball it hopped once on the 40 and Jimmy just pulled on it and it sailed straight over the bar I dont think any player out therew today has the skill to that on any team Ive seen.

Also no player seems to be able to double on a ball in mid air now thats anothe dead skill, so to say hurling is more skilful now is a misconception it may be faster alright but with the right training the teams back then could improve their pace levels but you are born with good hands and skill. Also look at the size of the boss on the hurleys today its ridiculous everyone has a goalies bos now.
